Past its best but still drinkable if you like that slightly oxidative thing. Mango and tangerine, full bodied, quite rich and very slightly sweet. Long finish and complex.

Yellow pale gold. Nose not what I had hoped, but it did have hints of tropical fruits particularity grapefruit, pineapple and stone fruit underlined by creamy butteriness , and syrup you get with aged Pinot Gris. Its now 24 years old and well past its best I'm afraid. Yet even after 2 hours it still hadn't oxidized.

This bottle encapsulates everything that I love about wine! A bottle that I paid less than $10 for expecting little, but knowing that a good producer could deliver. This was stellar! Full of energy, I would have never guessed it more than 5-6 years old. Very seamless and fresh with sweet white cherries upfront and quince and grapefruit on the finish. Excellent length. I drink very little from Alsace, but this was an eye-opener!

Decent, but not particularly noteworthy (hence, no note -- could not resist). More seriously, a light Pinot Gris, perfectly appropriate within that category.

After a tasty 2005, gave the 2003 a chance. Nose was very enticing with lots of raisins, amber and peaches. This however was one of those that are way better aromatically than taste-wise. Kind of dull on the palate - no development. Acidity is there, but the fruit isn't. It is definitely drinkable, but not a wine that I would buy again.

Alsatian Wines Blind Tasting (Newport Beach, CA) : Muted aromas of graham crackers and baking spices followed by wet stones and mossy river water on the palate. At one point, the wine smelled of wet socks.

Gold-with greenish tint in the glass. Green apples and somewhat dry on the palatte. Not as tart as many Wash Pinot Gris I have tried, but not as vibrant either. It was not flabby, but was lacking a little freshness in the palatte. Not bad, but I had expected a little more from this vinyard in Alsace.

alsatian tasting (Binny's South Loop, Chicago IL) : nose: loaded and interesting nose filled with minerals, quartz, bits of petrol, honey, and some lemon zest tones. While pungent, there is a lack of depth that would really send this soaring taste: A bit thin, but there is decent complexity with honey, petrol, minerals, and lemon zest overall: if this had good depth, this would be really good, instead its very good. Its a bit thin and has lighter acidity, but …

Not a white drinker, but got this to go with some Roasted Chicken & Carmelized Onion Risotto I made. Complimented nicely.

Very nice, we drink it right away, which may have been a mistake - I think it needed to open up a bit more, but nice balance overall

Petrol up front, slippery, with a slight oil-and-water look. Backed up by rich honey, but delicate and mild on the whole. Good with vegetable pasta.

Honey, pears, some granny smith apples. Quite lush, but not exotic or awe-inspiring at all. 86pts.

Golden color, pear and minerals on the nose, first sip seemed a little sweet, but it settled down. Full mouthfeel (from the sweetness?) balanced with moderate acidity, a touch of smokey spice on the palate to go with the white fruit. Wet stones on the finish.

Taste of the Vine 10/21 (Kierland) : This bottle seemed a little corked but the fruit was very good - Big - fat and ripe. Sweet with low acid but seemed very balanced and light on it's feet. Good value.

no formal notes/score - The nose was fairly tight but showed lots of steely & stoney minerality. modest fruit, defiitely seems like a mineral driven effort. lighter bodied, dry, and a finsh with hints of almonds?. decent wine, but seemed to be lacking a bit of depth and/or complexity.

WIML88,NOWA,NOWS Tasted May 26, 2007 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately. Tight nose showing a little wet stones and pears. Flavors of pears with firm minerality underneath. Light to medium acidity, light body. Drink over the short term.

Purchased off the list at Aquaknox at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Decent wine but a much lighter style than typical for this wine in better vintages. I'd likely pass on this one in favor of the 2005 vintage myself. Maybe 87 points?

Bright lemon-yellow pale gold. Elegant nose - soft tropical and stone fruit underlined by creamy butteriness. Good attack - light and fresh. Quite light, very clean and fresh. But also a touch of sweetness. Really elegant basic Alsace pinot gris.

A pale straw with pinky-greeny hints. Very big pinot gris nose with almost butterscotch notes. Good attack. Clean and remarkably fresh n the palate. Fills quickly, and becomes very big, almost fat, but with a nice acidity just coming through. Pretty textbook Alsatian pinot gris - quite fine. Very Good Indeed.

Pale to medium straw with a yellow tinge at the rim. Very full, very rich, buttery pinot gris nose, with lightly perfumed tropical fruits. Full attack with a touch of acid. Fills well. Rather flat on the middle, but there is a streak of acid to freshen it up. Not too aggressive or heavy a flavour. Nicely balanced. Very good length with plenty of spice long after. Very Good.

A very even medium straw. Pretty hefty legs. Very good, slightly perfumed pinot gris nose with lots of tropical fruit (even a hint of bananas) Very rich on the attack and then it goes on to fill enormously in the mouth. Massively rich and buttery. Actually, it seems just a touch on the sweet side, and perhaps there's a bit of late harvest fruit in this? Very clean, though, and with a great depth of flavour. I reckon this is …

13% A slightly dull, pale gold. Good, very typical pinot gris nose, with rich and rounded spiciness. Very odd flavour: this is a bit of a duff bottle. Lacking in body. Tastes a bit dilute overall, with a rather odd essence of Tokay Pinot Gris in the background. OK. Just a poor bottle.

13% A very even pale straw. A better than average pinot gris nose with a bit of fruit coming through with a nice bit of fruit coming through with nice hints of warm spice: a really quite attractive, nice, open nose. Nice attack: plenty of fruit, fills nicely to a good rich pinot gris. Good round richness, but also a nice fruity acidity. Finishes very well - very clean with no harshness at all. Very Good/Very Good Indeed.
