Domaine Perrot-Minot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru La Richemone Vieilles Vignes

As was in the midst of a serving frenzy, only able to provide some pretty broad strokes impression of the wine. There is no doubt that the Perrot-Minot of today is superior to the winemaking of yesteryear. However, the ripeness of the fruit, and the concentration of the old vines, meant that this tasted very fresh from the get go. Dinner for four (Restaurant Schweizer's, Stuttgart) : Glass: Spiegelau Definition Burgundy Tasted fully blind. Clear, deep, dark ruby color. At first there was a slight TCA note, after a while it completely vanished. This bottle was certainly not perfect, hence no "official" rating. With time and air the corc tone vanished and it revealed a rather powerful Pinot with plenty of fruit and a firm, beautiful structure and a good length. This bottle was somewhere around 90-91. At Wine bar. First bottle corked, the next straight to decanter. Started off somewhat mute, dark and brooding. After 30 min it starts to open up, revealing it's heritage being close to the Vosne-border. Red and black fruit, vosne-spice, hint of sous bois and oak, great depth and body. Very long lingering finish, fine acidity and ripe fruit. Mouth filling aromas and generous fruit. Excellent quality. Still a bit reserved and will certainly have a long life in the cellar.

Saturday Lunch with Friends and Wine (Happ Inn - Northfield IL) : Small glass, brief note. Broad cross-section of black, red and blue berries here with Vosne styled spices. Similar flavors but slightly more rugged and firm on palate. Good now but I think this has 93 point potential 2020 forward.

Pronounced, with massive aromatics, Huge structure. A very big wine. Should be grand cru? Methinks so.

I do not really understand how it is possible, but you can feel this wine's smoothness in the nose already. This is liquid velvet and almost impossible to place in NSG blind. The elegance of the producer overrides the terroir. Lovely stuff. 93+

This was a pleasant wine to be introduced to. I thought it was more up north. Maybe Morey or even Gevrey but it was not. Hard to read. It was not giving away much on the nose. There was some cherries and darker fruit but nothing too obvious. IT is like something complex with power coming on on after some time. Lovely wine and I guess I have to give this praise to the producer. This is not for everyone …
