Superb wine, drinking at its peak now. I dare say it will go another 5+ years but there is absolutely not a reason to wait more than a second. Excellent length tannins are incredibly fine and integrated. Fruit forward lingering palate, gorgeous wine.

Pop and pour, consumed over the next four hours. Not a Syrah found in N Rohne but very enjoyable. Good balance and drinking well now.

A very good drink. Still uncertain on the nose but picking up blackberries and a little chocolate on the palate. Smooth and soft. Have 4 bottles left so will leave in cellar for a year before opening another.

Real Review - Top Wineries of Australia (Ovolo, Wooloomooloo) : Concentrated dark fruits, polished oak, more of the same on the palate. Showing a little closed. This needs a few years or a good decant to show anything other than reticence.

In the decanter an hour and a half prior to drinking. Still very young in appearance, purple throughout and to the hue. A little muted, think it needed more time to open up, slightly out of balance on the back palate too. Happy with the way this is travelling considering my general nervousness of the cellaring potential of 13 vintage. I

Way too big and out of balance. This need lots more time and I am not even sure it will ever get into equilibrium.

Too much of everything, no balance and no refinement. Trop de tout. 86-87

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby colour, with thin garnet rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry, bilberry and dark cherries, pungent spice of black pepper, sweet spice of nutmeg, oak notes of toast, floral notes of violet, maturity notes of savory, kernel notes of coffee. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, high alcohol, …

Dark plum and cherries in the nose. On the palate dark cherries, blackcurrant, plum and some dark pepper. Medium+ bodied with a medium- acidity. Great depth and structure. Finish is medium long and has some licorice notes. Although I really enjoyed this one it doesn’t belong to my favorite Australian Shiraz. Drink now or until 2035. About 6,000 bottles were produced.

Last Tuesday Supper Club (One Penny Red, Summer Hill) : Raisins, black and red berry, plenty of sweet spice, chocolate. In the mouth it's concentrated, dense, positively thick in fact with black fruits, plenty of drying chalky tannins, alcohol heat is not-intrusive on the finish. Another ten years will help.

Dinner at Brazil Churrasco. Dark purple, almost black. Muted aromatics. Soft, rounded tannins. Palate unveils a big, bold wine. Dense, ripe fruit, relatively low acidity. Not much nuance or complexity here.

Matter of Taste. A big bold wine. Concentrated and intense, ripe fruit, slight sweetness on palate. Smooth, well rounded tannins.

Way to young, but hey my father in law was over. A great bottle from great and historic grapes. Alcohol too high but is consitent with its shiny modern appeal ... though don't ignore the history. Prime Aussie soil. Prime Aussie vines from the greatest wine growing region on earth - Barossa. Fast forward 2 hours of breathing and then imagine it in years to come. Actually awesome potential. 6'4 and full of muscles.

Big, concentrated, sweet, liqueur-like berry fruit on the nose, spices, smoke. Powerful on the palate, a bit of heat, but overall impressively well balanced. Very long. 92-93+

Very dark purple, shiny and vibrant color. Impressive nose of dark and blue fruit around cassis. Dense and big entry on the palate with lots of structure, ripe tannins, again lots of blue berry fruit. To be fair, the freshness I there but the 15.5% alcohol as well... If you like it Baroque, this is your wine.

Afternoon Australian wine tasting. Cracked capsule and sign of seepages from the bottle. Decanted for 1 1/2 hours. The wine is clear with deep purple colour and legs. On the nose it is medium plus intensity, with aroma of plum, blackfruits, jaminess, cooked fruits, cassis and kirsch. Devloping? Perhaps not due to bottle condition. Too jaminess and cooked fruits, reminded me of a Languedoc Syrah. On the palate it is dry, with medium minus acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol, full …

Impressive purple hue. Big wine but equally supported with some astringency to match the fruit. Needs time. Long long length with drying spice. Not at all fruity and I wonder if it will open up in time?

Kaesler tasting (United Cellars, 100 William Street, Sydney) : On the nose the wine is rich, unctuous, concentrated, black cherries, sweet spice, cream, chocolate, vanilla, quite perfumed…in the mouth, again, the wine is rich dense, chewy, chalky tannins and oak to the fore, with concentrated black cherry fruit and sweet spice. Quite drying tannins in fact. Still a puppy with all that impetuosity of youth. I like this...today.

Langton's Classification Tasting (Carraigeworks, Sydney) : Raspberry and redcurrant with cedar and charcoal. Great balance - it is big and intense but there is detail that doesn't get overwritten. Great texture and length.

Kaesler wine-tasting (Watson's, Hong Kong) : Their big one! An 1893 Shiraz block, yielding 1.5 to 2 tons per acre, raised in 100% new oak. Alcohol 14.5%. 500 cases made every year. Concentrated, smokey nose - lots of layers here. Dark fruit - plum and blackcurrants. Seems quite feminine and subtle. Fairly closed at the moment though.

Wine-Ark Cellar Club Tasting 8 - September 2011, Christian Moreau, Voyager Estate and Kaesler (Roof Terrace Australian Museum) : Colour: Medium plus intensity purple Nose: Perfumed green and black peppercorn over black fruit, cedar, cigar box and toast Mouth: Peppercorns, medium plus acid, medium tannin, cream, medium minus flavour intensity, long finish, slight herbal notes, slight leather as well. Very smooth, very balanced, very nice but, alas, very expensive!

Oak Barrel - Barossa Wine Tasting 2011 (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney) : Subdued, tight (medium minus) nose of green peppercorns and black fruit over herbs/greenness. Opened more willingly on vigorous agitation. The black fruit carries though to the palate and is married to medium plus acid and medium tannin that is a touch intrusive at this young age. Needs time.
