Very enjoyable style for me - intermediate between CA and Bourgogne. Notable oak but not with the dominating malo butter that is common for CA Chardonnay.

Light gold. Very rich, and the oak is quite evident on nose and tongue. Lemon, grapefruit and vanilla. Decent Chardonnay, but a bit more oaky than I typically favor. Very California style, but better than many.

Pale gold. Nose of toasty caramelized pear, tarte tartin. Very dry, long finish. A little difficult to move to this bottle after a zesty over the top NZ sauvignon, and even salmon and cauliflower salad seemed to overpower it, but on its own it's delicate and complex and very well structured.

Drink at Aquavit, a Scandinavian restaurant, at 65 East 55th street. Very fresh and best drinking condition. Fruity. With foie gras & cherries and cod fish. A good service of restaurant staff. With Giga and Masatoki.

An amazingly complex and beautifully textured wine. This had classic bright lemon zest acidity combined with a lush mouthfeel. The rare combination of these factor brings a rare combination that is delicious and definitely worthy of cellaring.

Reminded me some of what apple pie filling tastes like in a real good pie, along with lemon custard and a little marshy tone of oak in the finish and fennel note. All in, this was a nice mid-weight chard where the oak (akin to the Rhys Alpine chard I had brought alongside it) showed.
