Domaine Chevalier Corton-Charlemagne

Fat, waxy nose with notes of oystershells, citrus pastille, nuts, yellow fruit and quite discrete oak character. Fullish, plump, "fat", but not very elegant palate. Quite oaky and with high acidity, but lacking some fruit. Also a little bit thin finish. We thoght the wine tasty but too oaky when compared with the Bonneau C-Ch and the Drapier C-Ch.

Drank over an exquisite meal of raw sea urchin, shellfish and sashimi in a tiny little neighbourhood restaurant on a Friday night in the Hiroo residential district of downtown Tokyo. Distinctly maturing rich golden colour. Attractive classic but rather restrained nose. Gorgeous lightly hazelnutty palate with assertive mid palate acidity that segued into a very minerally and biscuitty (Butter Osbornes.......for the Brits out there) finish.
