Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

Last bottle of four purchased. Not really bad in any way, but not very Monthélie 1er cru either. Tangy red fruits with a little vanilla and spice, but not much else. After 11 years, I expected a little more. I'm sticking with my 87 from before.

Better than the first bottle over a year ago. Some nice red fruit flavors, but more spice than I prefer in my Pinots.

Seemed a bit shutdown. Let the remaining bottles rest.

Deep garnet color. Powerful, awesome nose of asphalt, deep violet, iron, raspberry reduction, and minerals. Medium-full body, fresh acid and medium round tannins, the palate is rich red fruits, iron, berry compote, medium oak. Powerful and graceful as only Burgs can be.

2008 Red Burgundies: Vincent Girardin (Vin Vino Wine) : Dust, oak and spice on the nose, caught a little sharpie marker in there as well?
