I first tasted Heymann Löwenstein's wines twenty years ago. It was a 2003 Röttgen. Now I drink the last vintage made by Reinhard Löwenstein (whom I had the pleasure to meet around 2007 in Denmark). It is as good as ever. Perhaps off dry but multiply aromatic with interesting green notes (lime? herbs?) and citrus and wonderfully balanced, with lots of acidity for good balance. Great aromas in the last drops. So good.

This wine is already drinking extremely well. Apricot, mint, baked citrus and grape. Creamy and rich, yet bone dry. A lot of energetic tension. Long, saline finish. This style differs radically from what one would expect from an ordinary Moselle wine. But it is captivating. Love it.

Just came from the winery and tasted a glass of Röttgen 2023. Intense stone fruit in the nose and on the palate. Long finish.

VDP Die Pradikatswenguter Grosser Ring VDP Mosel Saar Ruwer (Park Plaza Hotel, Trier) : Mineral, apple, slight peach, very slightly waxy notes…in the mouth its rich, concentrated, powerful, silky texture persists long, all is harmonious. Very good indeed.

Deep yellow, tending gold Honey and rich spice, light to medium fragrance. Delicate, floral, honey and spice, excellent length and a crisp finish. I like the texture, not at all heavy. Still has a youthful fruit profile, possibly fading in the middle a bit. Drinking nicely, probably not for keeping much longer.

Howard Ripley Germany GGs, Reds, and Auction Tasting. Brief Notes: AP: 07 24. Pale gold colour. Yellow stone fruits on the nose. Quite full flavoured with real intensity of fruit - there’s more stone fruits and a touch of smoky minerality on the long finish. Bright but powerful.

Grosse Gewächse Presentation (Conservatorium Hotel, Amsterdam, NL) : Retailer tasting, brief note. Light in style, very spicy, acidity seems a bit low, needs time to find its feet?

Not the full body like the other GG, but also a good food wine with seafood.

Not as concentrated as 2012, but still a beauty. Loved it, nevertheless.

no formal notes taken. Ready to drink but could also be kept another couple of years - not too long though. Tropical but restrained. Generous with some RS yet refershing acidity and bitter passion fruit notes. Hard to put down, its that tasty. However, I have a problem with screw caps and won't buy from this winery again as I would prefer to not store my wines with plastic contact (inside of the screw cap). Since purchase I stored the …

Pale lemon. Smells citrus pulpy with a little creamy curd. Honeysuckle, apple, lemon curd and mineral spice. Very smooth, but not overly viscous, definitely has some residual sweetness and body. Creamy texture, youthful fruit, in the lemon citrus zone with hint of tropical. Soft pleasant finish.
