Not really my type of wine. Big, bold and plush. But it’s reasonably balanced - not too over the top.

The 2019 Markham merlot has a pleasant, soft nose that fills the room as soon as the cork is removed. The smell is reminiscent of a sweet blackberry vanilla jam but also has notes of sour cherry and mocha. Unfortunately, as inviting as the aroma is, the taste is somewhat disappointing. It is not bad, but is not what the nose promised. There is a harsh tartness to the wine that drowns out hints of blackberry, cherry, chocolate, licorice, and …

True expression of Napa Merlot. Varietally correct, dark fruit, cocoa, and sweet tobacco. Solid bottle.

$23 value Napa 2019 Markham Merlot. Mid garnet, viscous (14.8 alc.); red fruit, herbaceous strawberry jam nose; mid acids; softening tannins; round red fruit finish, easy-drinking red. 16/90.

The Markham has a quiet nose that features cherry, strawberry, rose petal, red plum, and red currant. A very polished mouthfeel makes for a full body with thick, soft tannin and modest acid; it's a drink-now structure. Flavors include cherry juice, Chinese plum sauce, salmon berry, moist earth, and black pepper. This is one to drink over the next few years, and a little different from others in this tasting profile-wise.

Opens to black cherries, red plums, pastry dough, and fresh herbs. Displays good structure, balance, and weight, and it's still showing firm but that works itself out with air.

Delicious. Deep purple in color with thin legs. Cherry and spice on the nose. Lush and smooth texture and cherry flavor, spice on the finish.

Winery was built in 1879, 4th oldest winery still standing in Napa. Markham was founded by Bruce Markham in 1978. 200 acres, across 3 ranches (Calistoga, Oak Knoll, Yountville). All Female Winery Staff Merlot is their lead. #1 Napa Merlot nationally. Smells expensive, generous red and black fruit, no tannin

Enjoyed this at the Walla Walla Merlot Festival. Kim Nicholls from Markham attended and was pouring this. She did a great job explaining their various wines they had at the event. Plum. Juicy fruit. Balanced by some drying tannins. Nice balance.

Excellent QPR at $16 sale price. Well structured wine with red fruit flavors and a touch of mocha. Well integrated tannins with a medium long finish. I found no hint of tartness that I had experienced on previous bottles.

Had higher hopes but this one was a too angular, overly tart , and overly oaked. Maybe some time will help but not one I’ll go back to soon.

Deep ruby-purple robe. Capsicum, high-toned red fruit (plum), pencil lead nose. Surprisingly LB, A+, balanced, but acids predominate, well integrated tannins. Dusty cocoa, mocha, plum, raspberry, huckleberry, umami notes. Lingering finish.

Got this when i purchased an entire cellar. Much better than i thought it would be. Nose sort of stewed prune and a little achcolohic. Still some fruit - black fruit, very smooth, after about 45 min now losing fruit but decent finish
