Argot Chardonnay Le Rayon Vert

Last one of this vintage of Le Rayon Vert, but fortunately have the 2022 on deck. I really enjoy the tension in this wine that evolves and gives way to minerals, elegance, and precision. An intermingling of various citrus influences. Great level of acidity and evident minerality. An amazing contrast of elegance and complexity.

This wine has settled in nicely. It combines a precise delivery featuring citrus notes, notably lime zest and green apple flavors. It opens up to reveal minerality and vibrant acidity without losing any of its alluring texture. It has a distinct focus throughout but at the same time offers an ample flavor profile.

This came out big and bold. Patience is rewarded as this warms in the glass and begins to unfold and show its true colors. It became more nuanced and demonstrated different components of flavor. Lemon zest, orchard fruit with some floral nuances as well. Definitely mineral driven as well.

My wife enjoyed most of this one as I was quaffing some craft beer this evening. I did get a sip or two and this wine continues to be very expressive and enjoyable. Great acidity with lime zest. Opens nicely as it warms in the glass. Evident minerality, with white rock.

While earlier vintages seemed to be marked by racy acidity, this one seems to be more of a traditional robust and oaky Chardonnay. Very complex with significant depth and rich flavor profile. Oak influence and good counterpoint to the fruit.

I think this offering may have surpassed my love of the Simpatico Ranch Chardonnay that Argot produces. This is a great combination of quality fruit, perfect acidity and old world Chardonnay. I think French Chardonnay here as this is structured, integrated and focused. Some underlying minerality that comes through. A striking Chardonnay with character and resolve. Classic and very enjoyable.
