Tart cherry, good mid palate, grainy tannins, slightly shorter on the finish. Enjoyable and good price point. In drinking window, might improve over next 2-3 years as tannins would suggest, but no hesitation drinking now

Bottle decant. Medium garnet with some rust hues on the rim. Full body nose of rich, dried dark fruits - prunes, cassis, raisins. Very faint cedar and spice on the finishing notes once it opened up after an hour or so. Palate - medium+ body, medium+ acidity with round tannins that coated the mouth (I agree with the powdery comment below). Mostly dark fruits with a hint of bruised Apple. Coravin fun - Chateau Prieure Lichine/Cellartracker in the flesh with Ninetails (My place, Burwood) : From Coravin. Ripe blackcurrant, a little candied note, touches of alcohol prickle, sweet spice; brambles over plums, a little earhty underpin, tarry black liquorice, clay. Exploring Château Prieuré-Lichine (Burwood) : Medium garnet with slight fading towards the edges. The nose is more red fruits than black, mint, Cassis, currants, alcohol warmth. Medium intensity on the nose, not huge but not shying away. Body is medium light, acidity medium plus with a little sharpness / sourness, tannins puckering more than 2011, finish medium long. The palate is on the thinner side, tart, red fruits, Cassis, powdery tannins, a little leather. Hmm not sure about this one.

Drinking nicely. Showing some youthful charm still. Tobacco leaf, lead pencil bell pepper, orange peel, red plums, and cherries. This is a pleasure to enjoy with my BBQ chicken. Yum and yum.

Good lower growth for the $$. Took a full afternoon of breathing which got it to open up, although it still has some aging life left, a couple of years but is drinking well now. Elegant but tempered with still present tannins. Eucalyptus and cedar notes. Neither robust or timid, but err on the side of not pairing with spicy fare, perfect with roast.

Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street) : From Coravin. Plums, sweet spice, a little cedar, a little red berry and blackcurrant underpin as well as a touch of cream and slight fruit lozenge. Juicy, softly engaging, plummy broad, a slight savoury underpin, fleshy, silky tending to floury textured tannins, medium plus length with non intrusive alcoholic warmth, clean, simple, nice.

In the glass, a deep garnet with some orange hues A pleasantly earthy bouquet of dried cherry, decaying log, iron, leather and mint. The palate still has a lovely sweetness (from fruit not residual sugar), refreshing acidity and mellowed tannins. The wine finishes long with some bitter chocolate and espresso. While quite developed, it should keep for a few more years. A very pretty, high quality 2nd wine

91 This bottle was much more enjoyable. The nose was more intense-cherry and dark fruit. Still a nice opaque ruby color. Light to medium on the palate, smooth, and slightly tart. Cherry, vanilla, and some spice on the palate. Finish was smooth, slightly tart, and spicy. I enjoyed this bottle more than the first. (Maybe I was in a much better mood.)

Dark, opaque ruby. Cherry, spice, and some alcohol on the nose. Light to medium mouth feel. Cherry, spice, and tart berry on the palate. Dry, spicy, finish that is gone within a minute. The bottle seemed more balance after being open for a day.

Tasted at the chateau, the second wine of Prieure Lichine. Lovely fruity nose. Palate stikk developing,,still somewhat tart and tannic. Better in a few years but drinkable now with food. Apparently the 2016 will be better for ageing.

Drank 4-22-22 w-Katie and Tim. Excellent, bright acidity, blue fruit, with steak and baked potatoes w-sour cream. Tim really loved this, considering it alongside the 2016 Dunn Napa as two of his favorites of the night.

Opened this last night, when it was a bit rough/rustic. Not today. Good value. VERY deep, dark red, with an almost cranberry cast to the rim. Big-time red legs. Showy nose. Good for 2nd wine. Nose is nuanced and subtle with black fruit and some herbal/spices undertones. Palate is medium, black and red fruit, tobacco, cedar and herbs present. Finish is medium. Good now, don't think it will get much better

Popped and poured. Pretty impressive for: the price; 2nd wine status; attractive right out of the gate, before aeration. Nice ruby color, good fruit and spice in the nose (on the red side), and pretty fruit in the mouth in a medium-bodied format, with good acidity lending crispness. I don't think second wines get much better--especially when the first wine is not at the top of the food chain. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

Decanted for 3 hours. Nose: closed. Definitely a Bordeaux nose, but very subtle. Taste: still quite a bit of tannin, would want to wait a few years for the next bottle. Some tobacco flavours . Had with pork chops, asparagus, and yams (with blue cheese)

1 1/2 hour decant. Nose: Pleasant inky qualities w/ the same pencil lead and floral aspects as last bottles. Palate: In an ideal place with the inky qualities, black fruits, and very soft tannins. Acidity is also dialed in well. Last bottle and a perfect wine for our 27th anniversary dinner. 91+ points.

While this is a tasty Bordeaux with the cedar and berry flavors others have mentioned, even after having been decanted for two hours it did not change appreciably. I wanted to like it but it kept coming back the same, taste after taste. That is not necessarily a liability but it does not enhance the experience.

Earthy nose of dark fruit, forest floor, pencil shavings, cedar, leather and violet, restrained yet balanced palate of blackberry and black currant with subtle notes of chocolate, cocoa powder, anise and black pepper, soft, round tannins, medium-long finish.

Beautiful, mature claret, radiating the magic of margaux. Lush, mouth-filling fruit, with sufficient complexity from the well-resolved tannins to sing of the Bordeaux terroir. No it is not a Grand Cru, but it is mighty fine.

Similar to notes on 8/3/17 but this time only a slow ox so the wine had more tannins and energy than last bottle which saw a 1 1/2 hour decant of which I now feel was detrimental Addendum: Wow! This has really opened up on the nose after more glass air. Now showing very perfumy florals and some tar/mineral qualities. Now 91 points.

The "Confidences" is the second wine of Margaux's Château Prieuré-Lichine, forth-growth classified as "Le Prieuré" in 1855. Remarkably, it's a Merlot-dominant blend, 60-40 with Cabernet Sauvignon. (By comparison, the 2010 Grand Vin is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, while perhaps the appellation's top wine, the 2010 Château Margaux, is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon.) Der Rest der Runde meinte der Wein sei eher auf der schlichteren Seite, etwas rustikaler aber ich muss sagen, mir hat er an 2 aufeinanderfolgenden Abenden gut gefallen und er hat noch einige Jahre Entwicklungspotenzial in sich. Johannisbeere, Erdbeere, Pfeffer und schönes, etwas grobkörnigeres Tannin. Bin versucht mehr zu kaufen.

Classy and refined. Dark fruit, berries, pressed flowers, and cocoa aromas turn a hint candied. Plump, accessible, and restrained this evolves beautifully in the mouth, with blackberries, currants, and plums on a bed of earthy charcoal. Brook stones grace the finish.

Lots of finesse and freshness, and a very classy and well integrated blend with a wonderful never ending finish. Plum, raspberries spice and some cocoa/coffee elements. Drinking well right now but I think this will continue to mature extremely well and probably has another decade of pleasure left. Given this is the 2nd wine of the chateau I would love to taste the top dog.

Blind Tasting - Bordeaux red variaties blend, no younger than 2010 (St Johns, Auckland) : medium garnet, even and clear. moderate nose with subtle aromas, classic cassis, dark fruits, mild cedar. all elegant, less strength and density than others, but lasting longer. this blend is dominated by Merlot (60%), that's unusual in Medoc. but it's still a typical Bordeaux style showing very good balance and fineness. 2+ hour decant (mag decanter). Nose: Earth, toast, and red fruit aromas with faint traces of ink and pencil lead. Palate: Very light and thin but still has some interest with red fruits, mint and subtle earth. Finish is light. Too bad this is so light otherwise it could be very interesting, but at $25/btl. from WTSO a decent QPR. The 90 points is largely due to the interesting nose.
