Geoffroy Champagne Premier Cru Pureté - Brut Nature

Well I drink a ton of champagne on Christmas with my entire family. Late in the evening this bottle was still on ice. My kids opened it and almost finished it before I had a sip. I grabbed Camille‘s class, took a sip and was wowed. Certainly no detail; but it was very bright, and inviting… That’s all I got! A pale yellow with golden reflections in the glass, the first impressions on the nose are chalk, honeysuckle, and citrus peel, followed by vanilla, quince, butterscotch, and orange. The mouthfeel is creamy, generous, and round, balanced by a refreshing acidity with plenty of finesse. This Champagne is still very young and will develop with some cellar ripeness. A beautiful Blanc de Blancs. For the moment, it certainly belongs in a large glass so that he gets enough air to breathe.

On bus to Burgundy

Day1: Markedly fresh and brightly fruited on the nose with green apple, spearmint, iodine and a bit of yeast and smoke. Surprisingly primary and understated, somewhat reductive. A nice tight, persistent mousse. The palate is definitely on the dry side at 2 g/l residual sugar with little to no fat and quite a firm mouthfeel. Lemony and iodized nose. Supple palate, very nice freshness, excellent balance, the juice stretches delicately, it is surprisingly rich and charming for an extra-brut blanc de blancs with omnipresent citrus fruits and a good finish on wet stone. The right dosage provides this additional comfort. Very well.
