Still fresh. Simple but honest wine.

Pale yellow. Fresh nose of green apples and sea air. On the palate, driving acidity with a sweet base of citrus. 50 + 15 + 15 + 7.

Aligoté @ The Square (The Square) : Fatter and rounder. A touch of vanilla. Holds some line but it is fatter and richer and broader than previous wines. Finely chalky against that richer backdrop. ***

Still retaining it's richness and freshness at this point in time. Wouldn't hold on to it for much longer however, may be past it's best in a few months. Excellent drinking now.

Tasted in double-blind fashion from a bottle kindly provided by D.B., this light yellow (100% Aligoté) wine displays nice aromas of honeysuckle, citrus and minerals. Disappointingly, it falls flat on its light-bodied palate, with insufficient acidity to provide any vibrancy to the flavors. The alcohol (listed as 12.5%) is unnoticed...unfortunately, so is the middle palate. With a resurrected finish which is medium-length but overtly flabby, this is one which, while not offensive, will never be memorable. Drink now-2014.

Rich and round with just enough acidity to provide balance. Worth looking for again.

Light to medium yellow. Discrete but rather fruity nose with yellow apple and pear, some oak, and a hint of mineral. Medium bodied, slightly viscous, yellow fruit, some citrus aromas, medium+ acidity, rather good minerality, some bitterness and earthiness. A good food-friendly wine with the typical weight of a village-level Burgundy and nice minerality, but not quite the freshness of a Chardonnay-based wine due to the lower acidity

Interesting. When I was first poured this blind I thought it was "another of those obscure Chardonnays from a wine region that only Kermit Lynch could find". Lol,lol. With a few years of age it fooled all of us actually (not sure what that says about the crowd I hang out with but anyway.....). I have enjoyed a number of Aligotes over the years, including several (i.e. most) "designed" to add Kir to before drinking, so this round, oaky, slighty …

Very chardonnay like nose but on the palate a completely different story. A nice full and rounded mouthfeel. Only a slight acidity. Nicely balanced. Some noticeable complexities. Long finish. Lovely wine!

Léger début d'oxydation. Peu expressif au nez. Profil plus floral que fruité. Peu boisé. Amertume en finale et acidité un peu élevée. Un vin anonyme sans grand vices ni vertus. Très oubliable.

Impressive aligote with a finesse and body I've never experienced before on such wines. Very well-made and a good pair with scallops

Pale white gold; energetic, taut, crisp, minerally, lemony, dry; exemplary Aligoté with just a hint of added 2009-ripeness, cream and weight. Very attractive now, but will probably age magnificently (see La Revue du Vin de France, September 2012, pp. 204-207, for tasting notes on vintages back through 1990).

Pale straw in color. Nice nose with floral, citrus and limestone elements. Well made Aligote with balanced palate all the way through of apple, mineral and steely elements. Nice food wine with a variety of smoked fish.

Medium intensity gold color with some legs on glass. Youthful nose shows medium intensity notes of dried apricot, golden raisins, quince, and honeydew. Dry palate has Medium - acidity with medium body. Shows some dry extract. Honeycomb, stone, quince, dried fruit, golden raisins. Medium finish is slightly bitter. Acceptable quality, ready to drink, will not improve.

13.0% alcohol. Light yellow color. A pretty, mineral-driven wine. The nose is slightly stony, with underlying stone fruit. In the mouth, elegant and well-balanced, but with enough strength to show you it's a serious wine. Refined mouth feel, with great purity of fruit, which tends more toward apple, and plenty of stony minerals and good acidity. A gentle finish. A-
