Not every science experiment in the cellar works out - this was well cared for, but sadly did not survive the journey of the years. Oxidised and past it. Still, happy I sat it in the cellar to find out. However, the Cotat we tried earlier was a resounding success.

This is lovely. A point. Chalky finish, very elegant. Pretty ideal right now.

Brad & Marcia's btl and a great pairing with Nitas grapefruit & radish salad prior to our main course tonight! This could have used more air as it started out a bit reserved but swirls soon coaxed a lovely experience of compelling stony minerality, apple, tangerine w/ a closing hint of salinity. This displayed excellent energy and cut that should bode well for further aging. Very pure, fresh & characterful chenin.

I’m a Baudry diehard, but this didn’t do much for me. Lacking acid and verve. This felt a bit flat, and there wasn’t enough complexity to make up for the lack of energy. Opened for Thanksgiving 2021.

Fairly straightforward—apples, honey, and a hint of caramelized coconut—but it’s a very good straightforward. I paired this with Catalan paella rice cooked in squid ink broth and it was just an ok match. The cheap cooking wine, a Viura, with a ton of salty minerality, matched better even though this was clearly the better wine. It was a great match, though, with a Beet/Feta Galette and eggplant with tahini and fresh herbs. It seems that vegetables were just the right …

Good wine, but not as much cut, energy, as anticipated.

Clear yellow color with green reflections, on the palate mainly apple, in a good balance, in the middle of its drinking window.

My first bottle of the 2014. I like this. Nice nose, clean and attractive but maybe not particularly striking. On the palate, fresh, apples. Light on its feet, lighter than a Savennieres, not viscous like some of the best Montouis/Vouvray wines, but good length. Not a big, assertive wine, but I’d say you can tell it’s seriously well made. Better on day 2 - I think this will improve.

Deep straw coloured; curious, tetchy nose; lack of focus, awkward; decent finish.

White flowers, ripe apricots and citrus. Some evidence of Lees stirring. Subtle oak influences too, probably older oak. Could benefit from another 3 years or so of aging.

Pnp, fresh, ripe apple, pretty large, for me it lacks a bit of energy, is it too young? On day 3 it is on pear notes, some exotic fruit (Passion fruit, mango), very interesting, but still some energy is missing.

90 Color amarillo intenso, brillante. Nariz de manzanilla (flor) y manzanas asadas. Bastante cerrado. En boca es untuoso, graso, con volumen y buena acidez. Un punto de amargor final. Buen vino, pero mejor otros años.

This has developed nicely since checking in three years ago. There's considerable weight and a very nice finish, similar to a solid 1er cru white burg. Slightly lacking in acid, but by no means flabby.

Rich, unctuous, upon opening. Tightened up with air. May be more interesting with 5 more years.

Deep straw; tight as a drum, severe; plenty there on a closed palate; character shines through on long finish. Needs a couple of years

Too young still. Nice balance. Notes of green apple, pear and quince. Great texture and more coherent after about 45 min in decanter. Don't serve too cold. But best is to give 3-4 years of time. Depth here but touch soft on acid in mid palate.

Oak remains to the fore masking the usual minerality. Tight as a drum, energy to the finish. Leave two years. Hopefully, more to come.

Pale gold in colour. Pear in the foreground when first decanted. Lemon zest, too, that fruitiness shifting to the background as the wine eventually took on certain Chablis-like characteristics, gunflint in particular. The wine generally became more stony over time. Not that aromatic. Fleshier in texture, at first, before lightening up.

Wow. Medium body but excellent concentration. Deft and heavy at the same time. Very mellow and laid back, but very broad shoulders. Would love to watch this evolve over time. Only odd factor was that it didn't get better with food. But still - so curious to watch the evolution here.

Paired with Truffle Rissoto. On Pnp it was a little closed and a little too cold... but opened up great over the next 40 minutes or so... deep yellow color, medium + body, lots of floral on the bouquet with a hint of pear, apple, honeydew, and lemon peel... palate was similar with fresh fruits, flowers, and a mineral taste that leads me to graphite and/or limestone. medium to long finish, overall a good wine

Not sure what's going on here, could be a bit of reduction as taking a sniff my initial note is cabbage. Somewhat odd, but totally obtrusive. Some citrus fruits are detectable too, but the nose isn't too complex, that could change with some age. In the mouth it's got a fresh acidity and focus. Wouldn't have pegged this as a Loire Chenin blind.

Visits to Touraine Producers-Baudry, Huet, Foreau...; 10/22/2012-10/24/2012 (Vicinity of Tours, France) : Light yellow. Fresh citrus nose. Good texture. Lovely salty, mineral finish. This had so much more snap than most of the 2011 Loire whites we tried.
