Weekly tasting group #110; South-Africa with a few extra's (@ The factory by JdB) : Expressive bouquet with dark cherries, smoke, vanilla and some lactic impressions. On the palate creamy and round cherry and raspberry impressions. Some yoghurt and vanilla and pepper. Firm acidity and alcohol. Round tannin. Ok wine in its young maturity stage now.

A lot more enjoyable than the previous bottle. Lovely acidity and integrated tannins which balances the medium plus intensity dark red fruits, oak and earth. Only the alcohol felt out of balance with the burn quite noticeable. Long length. Went very well with a spinach and feta cheese filo pie.

Deep red / purple. Dark cherries and plum with moss, mushroom and violet nose. Smooth though obvious tannins. Heat from the 14% alcohol noticeable. Medium bodied with medium to high levels of acidity. Dark fruits with some mushrooms on the palate. Moderate length. Quite elegant though the heat from the alcohol is noticeable. A rather cerebral wine though the moment does not last too long.

Creation Wines tastery organized by Ton Overmars' liquor store (Amsterdam) : Blackberries and leather in the nose and in the mouth. Very pleasant tannins and again, this Beaumont is a bit more subtle than the more taste-forward Creation wines. Long finish.
