Well this turned out pretty nicely; not a lot of experience with Leroy beyond the Bourgogne level, but managed to find this for a half way reasonable price; the cork was saturated but intact; nose started out a little smoky and leathery, but with air showed nice red berry fruit, mostly dried in nature for me, along with sous bois, leather, mushroom; the palate seemed actually younger than the nose with the fruit having a lovely purity to it and …

A small tasting pour. Slight barnyard on the nose. The palate is well balanced, with a lot of minerality.

Leroy Tasting (Sunfish Cellars, St. Paul, MN) : Medium red color, bricked. Tasting pour. This has a deeper nose, funk, iodine, cherry, mineral. The palate is medium bodied, soil, mineral, cherry, a little thin mid palate. Very nice.

2013 Wine Media Guild dinner (SD26, NYC) : Must and varnish obscure the aromatics. Florals, cinnamon, and maraschino cherry are lurking, but this is rather biting--I'm not sure if that's alcohol or exaggerated acidity. Given the vintage/terroir/pedigree, I suspect this is either not a correct bottle or needs more time in the cellar, but I'd rate it about an 86 for current drinking.

(92-93) Drank at home with Marilyn and Jimmy to celebrate Mar’s b-day and SSDI. Steve and Mar liked it more than Ann (who would have liked a bit more sweetness and thought it had a tart edge) did, but all enjoyed it. Au pointe.

Mmm, beautiful perfumed aromatics with violet and rose petal accents on top of spice and black cherry, polished and silken in the mouth though not quite showing the same expressiveness and depth this had aromatically. Delicious wine, though still very young.

HDH Auction (Tru) : Bright red/pink color. Beautiful nose of sweet cherry pie with some serious spice notes. Still tight black cherry fruit with persistent tannin. Will be great with time - typical young Leroy.
