End of the night treat. Enjoyed this after a long Christmas party with some dear friends. Didn't take detailed notes, was PnP, no decanting. Very young, but also very enjoyable. Red cherry, orange peel, rosemary, grapefruit, ripe cherry. No regrets opening this, wine is meant to be shared with those close to us! But I do look forward to revisiting this in a few years. 92 points.

Mint on the medium intensity nose. Tight med body feels like it needs some more time. A bit woody.

Barolo Communes Series #1: Verduno (Bristol) : Outstanding promise here, though as yet it's still tightly wound and somewhat unyielding. The tannins are prominent but precise. It's notably lighter colour than most other wines in this tasting - a pale red tending to orange notwithstanding its comparative youth (the youngest wine in the evening's line-up). Strawberry, roses and liquorice on the highly perfumed nose. Classically built. Already delivering pleasure as well as intellectual satisfaction. Should improve

Brought by vinus_operandi to lunch at Basilico in Millburn, NJ. Double decanted beforehand and acquired recently from a cellar purchase offered by a NYC retailer. At first this seemed very oxidized and old. Old library smell, slight wet cardboard, fearing TCA. Bright acidity but little obvious fruit. We decided to give it some air time. It did improve a bit after 30-60 minutes but it never became really great. Passable but probably not stored perfectly over its lifetime. 90-91 at …

Coravin, 55F; brickish overall with ruby center; evolving nose, floral notes, anise, mushroom; medium to light bodied smooth with balsamic notes dominant. tart red berry last of faded fruit with some sweetening in glass; lingering finish, improved with bolognese pairing; prior bottle was clearly off; still more downside than upside unless impeccably stored

I just cannot imagine that this bottle could be showing any better than it did I don't think the fruit had fallen off even 5% there was a terrific nose of very pleasant cherry pipe tobacco, forest floor, spice, rose petals, and fresh jasmine. On the palate a hedonistic mouth feel, plush, elegant, and very sexy, with a presence of dark cherry jam, some darker berries, a fine mix of herbs, and a sweetness that was very compelling. The finish …

So I’ve had a great history with this wine dating back 35 years. This producer is so far under the radar. Last night was no exception. I opened the bottle at 7 am. Right away you could just smell the cherries. We brought it to a restaurant where they decanted it. The smell of cherries was still wafting from the decanter. Looked translucent but within a few minutes the wine turned so dark that it was impenetrable, even holding it …

From the opening the wine was quite cloesd and didnt give off much on the nose, but after a couple of hours and air it opened up nicely. On the nose I had a lot of sweet fruit like strawberry and cherry with some almost like marcipan. On the palate it had the same sweet berry notes but also the acidity so typical of the grape. The acid was well tamed and dint take over, but I was missing some …

Barolo Master Class (Johns Creek, GA) : Tasted during a "Barolo Master class" at The Wine Store in John's Creek, GA. Bottle opened for 2 hours prior to tasting and tasted with cheese, bread and charcuterie. More modern style of Barolo. Color is light ruby red. Super expressive nose. Very tannic. Cherry on the palate; almost liqueur-like. Brad - heavypourwine.com

Lovely and floral expression of the vineyard. I’d wait a few years to open remaining bottles, though, as this was a bit tight—definitely at its best after a couple hours in the decanter.

Prior bottle was 2 years and 2 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Nose was a bit deeper this time with both black and red cherry to go along with the earth, minerals, spices and light leather notes. Between medium and full bodied with a very similar fruit profile to my prior bottles: red and black cherry upfront, deeper black cherry and a touch of black raspberry through the middle with some plum behind. Balanced tannins, …

Bring an interesting wine theme : Easy guess as 2018 Nebbiolo with the noticeable VA on the nose and approachable, warm red fruit. Still quite tannic but not unbearably so, drinking well now. I have liked the 2018 Piedmont wines that I have tried so far despite the scepticism surrounding the vintage.

Prior bottle was a bit over two years ago and this wine has continued to positively evolve along the lines I'd hoped. Nose was virtually identical with red cherry, rose and light tar/leather notes. Between medium and full bodied with red cherry again the dominant fruit note. But the combination of bright red cherry with slightly deeper and darker red cherry through the middle contributes to complexity. In addition, the tart red cherry, spices, tannins and acidity on the backside …

Pop and pour at Belgian restaurant. Pale garnet color. Medium body. Rose petals and cherry on the nose. Tart cherry and raspberry, touch of new leather and anise, grippy tannins on the palate with forward acidity but not necessarily unbalanced. Medium finish. Wife liked it and she’s particular about reds. Got better as the night went on. (Don’t they all…?) Accompanied by bolognese and braised short ribs. I’d buy this again. Reasonably priced. Good QPR. Curious how this compares to …

Prior bottle was nearly 22 months ago (Nov 2019) and my notes were again consistent. Red cherry, leather, light tar/leather and floral note son the nose. Between medium and full bodied with red and black cherry upfront and retaining that mix of open roundness and slightly more tart brightness. Mid-body adds depth along with black cherry, hints of black raspberry and then plum towards the back. After being open for four hours, the mid-body takes on that wonderful sense of …

I purchased nine bottle of this beauty ten years ago. I drank the last one several day's ago. Eight of the nine bottles were fabulous, and the last one was probably over the hill. I will negate bottle number nine because it wasn't properly stored. This is a lush wine with fabulous color and a wonderful bouquet. Fans of Barolo will want to drink this as frequently as possible because bottles this good are a rare find.

Opened the bottle around 10:00 am. Poured first glass at 5:00 pm. Extremely dark with great legs. The nose is a bit shy bus shows cherries, raspberries menthol and some smoke. It a bit primary in the mouth but with a bit of time and swirling it is a really refined drink. Cherries and red fruits with some tar and a great long finish. This has a few more decades left. Tonight I rate it 94.

Drank first half of this bottle after about two hour decant, nice with food but a bit middle of the road Barolo. Kept the remaining half bottle in the fridge for three days and now it’s a completely different wine, full bodied and goes on for days! Hold or decant for a long time.

Between medium and full bodied with bright red cherry upfront, with darker redfruit notes through the middle. It's a very pretty mix of polish, brightness, depth and acidity. Prior bottle was 2 and a quarter years ago and my notes were very consistent. Nose remains red cherry, earth and notes of leather and tar notes.
