Sant'Elena Merlot

Past its prime, even in mag form

From magnum. Opened and drank a glass on Saturday night. Nice, but not totally pleasureable--perhaps a little sharp. Left bottle closed at room temperature until Wednesday, and what a difference! Medium clear red. Evocative fruit aromas. Beautiful sweet/tart fruit flavors, initially cranberry, then darker fruits. Lovely texture, with just enough tannin and acid to keep it fresh. An unexpected pleasure!
