some bricking; leaner on day one; best on day two with complex nose; complex savory ripe mixed wild berry, cigar box, garrigue; good acidity. Plenty of black tea (in a good way) makes you think of a mountain cab. On day one (popped and poured), i wondered if this was a bit past prime; on day two it was singing.

DAMN WiNOS (Rye Restaurant, Eugene) : From the winery in 2015, this bottle was in great shape and still youthful. Blackberry, currant, black raspberry, tobacco and stone notes. Tannins are hanging in there as you'd expect from HM fruit. Now-2027.

Nice mature CA Cabernet. Nose has perfumed flowers, mineral, tobacco, and faint leathery red fruit. Soft mountain fruit greets you first, wild blackberry and red plum, then red currant and black raspberry on the medium long finish. There is a touch of herb and earth, a little smoky too. Just enough acidity to keep it from feeling dull. Tannins a little astringent, the only drawback. Ready to go, but no hurry. Should hold through 2025.

Lighter than expected. Elegant, smooth mouth feel. Expected notes of cherry, vanilla, cassis. Also subtle hints of bell pepper, tobacco, and leather. Overall not the flavor bomb I was expecting but enjoyable nonetheless.

Not particularly inspiring. For ten year# old it still has plenty to go. Medium bodied full of fruit but nothing to get too excited about.

Good quality, but not particularly complex or interesting. Blackberry, cedar, for tobacco. Full bodied. Mouth coating but ripe tannins. A short decant is good, but actually starts to feel a bit flat after a few hours of air. Not sure it has the acidity to go too much further distance.

4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (R&D's) : Rark fruit and vanilla dominates the bouquet and follows through on the palate. Tannins are a bit angular at this point. Give this some time and hope for some development.

Decanted for over 4 hours. Mid-bodied and certainly not as rich as other single vineyard efforts such as Rancho del Oso and Bancroft Ranch of the same vintage. UPDATE 06/18/2016 - Decanted less than hour and this wine sang. A long decant certainly diminishes the experience and I can now comfortably say the 2007 Steinhauer compares well with its siblings. Full bodied, deep and elegant with firm finishing tannins... 93+

- Ruby color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry, raspberry and oak. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of blackberry, molasses and oak with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Drank with Sandy just cause. Lots of black fruits, blackberry, blueberry, and stuff. A bit tight and oaky. Good, should be better in a few years.

A delicate wine, when compared to other napa cabs. Bright red fruit on the nose. Tannins were present but far from overpowering. Overall nice balance. Drinking good now, but should last another years down the road
