PNP and tasted over an hour or so during a Paulee. My last bottle, but so enjoyable. Fully mature, dark blue and black fruits, the elegance and minerals of a well-made '93. Rally nice. A-

Very ripe fruit that's black in tone, like black plums and licorice, with spice and a peppery stem influence. Medium weight with lots of fine, drying tannin with which the spicy black fruit fights for influence. An odd combo of high ripeness with austere winemaking. Needs food and/or more time, but I'm not sure this has the concentration and density to outlast the tannins.

Ikke dekantert. Stram, lite frukt, syre dominerer. Ikke noe galt med det, men hadde håpa på noe annet. Samme dag 2. Oh well.

Still not at full maturity, but has opened some since the previous bottle. Strawberries and other red fruits, and Suchots earthiness, medium-wight, good acidity and freshness. Drinks well now, but still some tannin to resolve. Cellared since original release. 92 today, potential for 94-95.

Epure, Hong Kong. Very typical of the 2013 vintage with red fruit profile, elevated acidity and great florality. This opens very tannic in a profile not too dissimilar from a Nebbiolo. Balance improves markedly with airing and there is good 1er Cru level of flavour complexity. It is a good drink though it lacks a bit of oomph, truly fluorescent or zingy fruit to make it into my 2013 pantheon e.g. Bize Latricieres or the entire Fourrier line-up. This is …

Light and enjoyable for its red fruits but seemed advanced for ten years on and showed surprisingly little Suchots character. Cellared since original release.

PNP. Fully mature, if not slightly past its prime, but drinks well out of the bottle with dark fruits, some nice secondaries on the nose and palate, and a nice finish with not tanning (shocking for this producer). Very nice but drink now. B+/A-

Un vin délicat, avec une belle fraîcheur, qui montre un magnifique potentiel. Mais à laisser en cave encore quelques années pour laisser se développer ses arômes secondaires et gommer quelques marques d'astringence.

4 hour slow ox - not sure needed but it did work out fine. Fully mature, lovely wine that has that cool 1993 fruit but is well put together and a nice finish with all the tannins fully resolved. I very much enjoy this wine and hope my younger Confuron-Coteditot Suchots shed their rustic side and age like this one...A-

Red fruits, earth and nutmeg on the nose. On the palate, red fruits and good Vosne spice, light to medium bodied with supple texture. It's getting lean and probably on the decline, think this would have been better maybe 5 years ago. Looks like the previous bottle was the outlier.

Lovely tertiary notes of earth, forest floor and dark fruits. Medium bodied, complex flavour profile of earth, dark fruits, baking spices, harmonious, balanced and persistent. Still going strong at 29 years of age. The acidity in this bottle was far better integrated than the previous bottle. Wine remains strong even 4 hours after opening.

Garnet in color with a nose like a bouquet of violets, licorice was prominent with black cherry, black currant, strawberry and red plum notes. The palate started off silky on the attack followed by a savory mid-palate with the licorice notes and darker red and some black fruit coming through . Medium+ acidity, med tannins, med body. I just wanted to sip and explore this wine with the lamb chops I made. I think this still has a few years …

Second bottle of this in two years. Classic Burgundy aromatics that leap out of the bottle when you draw the cork - sous bois, red fruits, decaying leaves. The acid profile is overtaking things a bit on the palate, under the pronounced acid spine there's some cloves, Chinese five spice, and red fruits. First bottle last year the acid line was less prominent. At this stage, it's coming down to the old adage of no fine wines, only fine bottles. …

Wine swap night Burg theme. Tasted blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of menthol, herbal stems, purple fruits, dark red cherries, spices, salty minerality with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), chewy medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, red plums, purple fruit, menthol herbs, sweet spices, salty minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. …

A robe of rusty red, see-through silk. On the nose, it’s cherries, blackberry, fruit caramel. Secondary notes include, on one hand, butter sautéed fruits, and on the other - fresh moist grass, sea breeze, herbs, wormwood even. On the mouth, it’s medium-high acidity and high tannins. Aggressive. This wine doesn’t try to be likeable, yet it fails not to impress. Red berries, leather, some juniper. A hint of bitterness makes for an elegant taste.

Very inviting colour, just faded enough to suggest some age but still deep enough red to expect vibrancy. Spicy nose with red fruit. Palate is all about balance with tannins more or less resolved, good mid palate leading to a decent finish. Again, all in harmony. Drinking well now and I would not wait. I do not think this is getting any better.

As a winenerd you cannot only corvine the whole night! So pnp this lonely bottle, boah...., hey it is VR 1er! Meaty and earthy nose, black fruit in the background, clearly a great Bourgogne for me, with some slow ox begins to open, showing a basket full of aromas, silky boysenberry, strong morel, enormous tension on the mid palate, deep and juicy rich, want to take a bath in it! **(**-*****), 93-95

What a surprise. This should have been done and dusted, but it was still drinking superbly. Loads of sous bois tertiary aromas, still nice juicy acidity, gorgeous depth of cherry and red fruit. This producer never lets me down. Excellent stuff.

Ripe black cherry and plum with black pepper, licorice and dark chocolate. A bit of a bruiser for Vosne 1er Cru, the tannins are still quite pronounced, but the volume is there as well. This has very good potential, but was just short of showing its full potential yet tonight. Certainly 91+ point potential, at least 2022 forward.

Burgundy Tasting-Mostly 2014 Whites and Reds (The Wine Club, San Francisco) : Dull ruby. Menthol and char on the nose. Medium body with some sap giving a nice feel that is lightly woody. Soil, subdued red fruit, overall somewhat green impression, quite tannic. Middling quality for Suchots.

Very black and impenetrable today; cassis, dark cherry, licorice, violet, pepper come through, followed by very dark, black pinot fruit. Surprisingly tannic (even for the vintage) given the appellation. Try again in 10 years.

Aromatically pretty closed, but some notes of the typical Vosne spices, flowers and some dark berry fruit. Medium-full bodied, dense with medium+ acidiy and medium-high tannin. Good length. At the moment it's more about texture than aromatics, but I'm sure this will open up nicely in a few years. For now I would try to pace myself though... lots of potential. (93-95)

Infanticide, waaaaaay too young. Nose floral and aromatic but the palate was muted. It did, however, reflect that there was a future but not today. I won't grade since it would be grossly unfair but if I was grading potential it would be 90-91. There is some left and if it improves or evolves tomorrow I will report accordingly.
