L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc, Pessac-Leognan

Outstanding again, but after reviewing my note from 20 months ago, I think it is showing all it can now. Drink over the next year or so, imho.

2017 vintage

Veldig frisk og lekker vin som har modnet av seg valpefettet. Aromamessig opplever jeg søte sitroner, nyslått plen, epleskiver og streif av tropisk frukt og vanilje. Vinen føles kjølig i munnen med medium konsentrasjon, syre og lengde. Balansert, ukomplisert og deilig. Nydelig til stjerneskuddet.

Denne har steget 200 kr i verdi, mens den har ligget og godgjort seg, Derfor ekstra tilfredsstillende å sprette den nå. Aroma av epler og rabarbra. Myk og rund. Mineralsk, fersken og sitrus, lang ettersmak med hint av krydder.

Fin kompleks nese med litt modning og halm i tillegg til hegg og sitron. Relativt elegant smak med god syre. Super til kylling. Opp mot 92

Only short notes. At fist rather heavy oak in the nose, balancing within 15 minutes in the glass. Apple and lemon in the taste, well balanced. At its top now, I guess. A bit round because of the 35% semillon. Good match with mussels. Very nice wine.

Last bottle of a case. Of course, it’s the best so far. Will be buying another case.

2017 vintage

Notes after 1 hour open. Light straw gold color, clear and bright. Medium intensity nose that gives up an enticing bouquet of tropical and citrus fruit with a kiss of oak. In the mouth, the weight of the wine is substantial, providing a creamy texture with ample acidity to lend a nice bite in the finish. Great stamina, almost as long as its big brother Chevalier Blanc. Deliciously in my wheelhouse. 5+12+17+8= 92

40th anniversary tasting (L'Esprit du Vin - Axelborg) : My notes from this fantastic gigantic tasting are in general extremely short (because of the many wines) but with ratings. We spent a whole day tasting and tasting quality wines. This wine: No notes taken.

Very nice, sauvignon blanc-nose. The taste was a bit less good, although it showed some nice mint. At the third day the oak was better integrated. This wine might be better after a couple of years of further aging. 89-90.

A - Clear. Medium lime. N - Clean. Medium plus intensity. Green notes (grass), vegetal, lime, some kind of melon, green apple. The wine is young. T - Dry. Accidity is medium, body medium plus, all the primary flavours, finish is medium plus. C - Very good.

A let down for $31. The Sémillon was not expressive. A middle of the road effort and I had to pay shipping for it.

Pnp, and retasted after 4hours decantation. Expressive sauvignon on the vegetal side, with big flavours of boxwood tree, fresh cutted grass. Young structure with nice acidity and bitter of a pomelo bite and fresh endive. That's not a wine for apero, needs a specific dish. difficult to rate.

Blindsmakt på Norvald. Tydelig katt. Kraftig lukt med karakter. Solid frukt sam sitter godt. God syre. 355,-

Flott vin. Relativt fyldig/rik stil, nesle, kalk og litt smør/fat. Bra fedme i munnen og fin syre

Light, yellow greenish colour. Green apples at nose, whiff of cantaloupe, minerals, limestone. Well balanced, tingeling acidity but just right. Green apple, minerals. Just unripe strawberry. Light bodied. Very pleasant, very elegant, lots of finesse. On its own, salad, white fish, shell fish. Less with butter, cream or fatty foods. Good value for money!

Bright, fresh, zesty and tangy, yellow citrus with hints of tangerine and flowers, ending with a crisp, vibrant finish. Drink from 2022-2028.

Fyldig duft av sitrus, nesle, urter fat. Fin fedme, god konsentrasjon og syre. Lang gresset utgang.

for it's price, this is good, the oak is present and well integrated. the fruit acid and oak are balanced. there is succulence, and indications of the same notes we love in the 1st wine, but everything is just a bit muted, less intense, reminding you that this is a second wine.

Cremig-weich im Gaumen, mittler Körper, reife Frucht, milde Säure, seidige Textur, schon wunderbar zugänglich, zeigt im Abgang eine schöne Ausgewogenheit und Länge, endet auf Mirabelle und etwas grüne Äpfel. Nice combination of power and freshness. Grass, apples and a smoky hint.

Young and bright color. Fresh aromas with Sangiovese greenness lanolin and wood. Slso evident notes of Semillon, which contributes with citrus notes. Fruity, fresh and full bodied.

Pale in color, with an inviting nose. Oh, yeah, this is nice. Citrus along with all kinds of minerals and saline. A lot of finesse and all kinds of chalk and seashells and yet juicy/refreshing. This is great. The Grand Vin blanc, after its initial few years, often takes some time to come around, as its built to age for the long haul. Medium-bodied, fresh, soft, forward, lighter-styled Pessac Leognan that focuses on its silky, sweet soft red fruits and earthy, herbed, smoked berry finish. There is a definite resemblance between this second wine and the Grand Vin. So enjoy it on release and over the next 7-9 years while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. 90 Pts

2017 vintage

I have had this wine on more occasions and the bouquet is every time really strange close to corkage. In the mouth the wine is completely different - really nice. Developed but not old in any sense and representing the classic white Bordeaux features. A racy wine with some creaminess in the aftertaste - a bit of rubber band and a very good balance.
