Not sure what’s up with the drinking window on CT for this - it is holding up terrifically well, and so no signs of aging. Dried cherries, cranberries, ripe red peaches, nutmeg, vanilla, quince paste. Pepper and spices on the finish. Requires a really long decant to show its full potential, like more than 6 hours and even continued to improve in the glass. Great stuff, if you can find it!

No formal notes - working from memory. Dried cherries, rose petals, cinnamon, some earthiness and spices. No sign of aging since last tasting of more than two years ago. This is well made and meant to last.

Nice. Sweet Greek. Unusual sweet red no less! Vaguely port like (color association?) this wine reminded me more of an Aussie "sticky" than anything else. Nice (but I like port better....)

From memory, clear blood orange, resembles a youngish pinot noir laced with some grenache gaminess. Very pretty wine, although light but persistent aroma and taste of alcohol was distracting.

No formal notes. Brought to a tasting and proved a crowd pleaser! Very nice, great accompanied to meats and cheeses, but also stand alone. Take your time with this one, and it benefits from decanting.

This was an interesting new wine I have not had before. It is a light, aged Burgundy color. Nose is quite reticent with lots of minerals, pine and some cranberry. Palate is light in body with some somewhat astringent tannin, bright acidity, muted fruit and some spice on the fairly short finish. Pleasant enough though unremarkable.

Solid 92. Has that Economou flavor profile. A little bit of funk, with a spectrum of pine needles, mushroom, and forest floor. A little bit of dried fruit, subtle apricots. This particular bottle leaned more to the funk side, and I would have preferred a bit more of the fruity notes to come through, or to be a little sweeter. 11 years old and very much alive.

92? 93? Second go-around with this and I think I might buy somewhere between 6-12 more. I *love* it, and think that it's 11 years young -- all kinds of life here. I'd probably guess this for a beautiful aged Barbaresco or something (via its brickish color and floral/tobacco/leather aromatics) but I'd know I was wrong. This is an awesome wine and I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who likes Piedmontse wines (or aged, feminine Sangio).

Old own rooted vines of liatiko. Garnet towards brick colour. Complex aromas of dried herbs, dried rosepetals and sweet red fruit. A bit of dried figs and underbrush but not much. Nice mouthfeel that goes well with the nose. A bit medium low on acidity but that is totally reasonable since the wine is made in Crete. Pale garnet in colour. I hesitated when buying this a couple of months ago seeing it was ten years old but the merchant insisted that it can stay even longer and that is why this vintage is on the shelf. Light body and bricking well into the wine. The nose has some cherry, rose and truffle, the palate is more bing cherry with some savoury forest floor and tar notes, it's not too far away from a light mature Nebbiolo, a few fine tannins remain and lovely acidity keeps the finish clean and leaves you wanting another sip.

Terra cotta ruby in the glass shows a sign of some age, quick forming tears, aromatic perfumed nose with hints of earth, elegant palate of tart bing cherry, berry note of red rose, bright acidity, hint of spice. Delicious expression of an ancient Greek varietal. (100 barrels made)

Blowout at Formento's (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind by Steve. The bricking on the rim makes me think this is around 10-15 years old. There's incredibly vibrant red cherry on the nose and palate, coupled with a lot of earth. The palate shows lots of vibrant acidity as well, and as Steve said, is like the bastard child of pinot noir and nebbiolo. On the cherries and earthiness, I guessed cooler Chianti.

Somm/"Greek wine genius" at Helen called this a cross between Barbaresco and Chambolle. Spot on. This has an open-knit, etherial nose that evokes a Red Burg, but also possesses the tannic, rustic, floral, dried-fruit palate of Piedmont. Expressive, floral, and light on its feet. I don't have experience with this grape, but I suspect this has a ways to go before peak.

Tasted blind. Definitely and interesting and well made wine from one of the best winemakers the country has to offer. First idea was that this was a new world pinot noir or make Grenache. Had its ripe fruit, almost jammy and at times light "porty". Surprisingly a light wine on palate with very light tannin. Interesting but not a great wine. 88-90quite a bit of spice, cloves and all.

Very light garnet color. Nose of a very old wine with caramel, ash and jammy fruit, oxidative style. Quite flavorful on the mouth, medium bodied without any noticeable tannins. Economou produces idiosyncratic wines which have aged prolonged periods in oak and bottle. I think I have tasted better wines from the estate.

Drunk at 15 degrees. Remarkable - nose, texture and delicacy reminiscent of a good Burgundy, beguiling. Hint of plum, spice, minerals. Great length. Very light in colour - lighter than pinot noir or gamay. Really wonderful - and with 9 years on it as well.

An extremely intriguing wine! Dark amber. Lovely, layered nose of dried red fruits, roses, spices and black (Yunnan) tea, with some nutty notes as well. Soft and caressing palate entry, with a fine-grained mature tannic spine coming through especially on the impressively long finish. Medium bodied, detailed and enticing. Great stuff!

Light clear ruby. Dark candied cherries ans plums, sweet spice, earth and barnyard, minerals. Multilayered and complex nose. Medium mineral body with substance and long finish. Quite good.
