Cakebread, Merlot, Napa Valley

The Decanter panel review about nails it, though I think the score might be a little high. I get a strong hit of spiced vanilla on the nose. This is silky without being cloying, nor is it overpowering at 14.3% ABV. Excellent wine.

On the nose it has some tertiary notes, and some leather. On the pallet, it has a lot of vanilla upfront, medium bodied with a very new world Merlot style. Nice structure, round, good fruit but not a not terribly long finish.

A really nice Merlot. Medium body, smooth and flavorful with dark cherry, tobacco, and a hint of earth. Drinking very well now. Paired nicely with roast pork chop. Reasonable QPR for a wine most everyone will really like.

The wine is pretty close to if not at the end of its drinking window. Lovely for the first 24~ hours then developed nose of nail polish and tomato sauce the tomato had infiltrated the palate

Still has great acidity. Lots of black fruit with hints of anise and violets. Perfect with grilled lamb and finished the bottle with some 86% dark chocolate which really highlighted the fruit.

OK...needs air....undrinkable upon opening...tar, tannins, disjointed and bitter. after 30 mins it really comes together. New world....blueberries, chocolate, raspberries, long finish. tannins and tar disappear.

Last second pull after 3 previous choices were corked. This was quite stunning honestly. Rather full bodied, with good acid and a lingering finish. Should drink well over the next five years at a minimum

Kan nemt gemmes og udvikles i de næste år.

Medium nose shows black plum, rocky note of graphite, dark chocolate, blackberry. Palate is full bodied, medium plus tannins, medium acidity, lots of fruit layers, black plum, red plum, cassis, mocha, lots of structure behind it, really it's a little tight at the moment, surprising for Merlot. Good wine and has some stuffing for aging. Overall solid though not the top selection at the price point.

Paired with a deep dish pizza after decanting for about an hour and it's just fine. Very bold nose of red and purple fruits, but not as bold after tasting, a little soft in fact. Not what I woul expect from a Napa red. Maybe still a little young. Still, you could do a lot worse. I have another bottle in the collection, I will probably hold on to that for another year or so before cracking it open.

Too vegetably for my tastes, but probably a classic merlot flavor. Nice finish.

Still nice medium purple color, but a bit flat and lacking any depth or complexity. Palate still full of fruit content, with undertones of chocolate. Nose is a bit musty with cedar, but mellowed over a couple of hours. Time to drink up.

I thought this may have been past its prime by now, but it has lasted nicely. Sound, round on the palate, without too much of a nose, but got some berries and chocolate out of this with aeration and decanting after approximately 40 minutes.

A very nice wine with a fruity nose but not much complexity. Tastes of plum and blackberry. Thin and quick flavor.

Dark purple in color, but starting to letsome light through. Nose is fruity with some complexity. On the palate this is thinning out compared to the last time I had it. It's still an outstanding wine, but it's on it's way down in my opinion.
