Cameron Hughes Garnacha Campo de Borja Lot 129

I was a harsh critic of this wine on a previous review but I now believe I had a bottle variation, or one that was slightly flawed. Dense dark purple in color. Sweet tobacco and dark plum on the nose. Toasty balanced oak is everpresent but not dominating. A little cinnamon and clove as well on the nose. Palate brings a medium to full bodied wine of astringent black fruit and sour cherry. Finish is long but not particularly pleasant.

85 points.color is very very dark. Detected a smokeyness and roasted meat. Very pleasant tasting. would buy again if available.

It was earthy and very dusty and very dry...maybe a little too dry. I liked it but half of the group did not. We have one more; I hope time will give it a little more fruit.

Pretty nose, and quite drinkable upon opening. Light bodied. Vacume sealed overnight. Wine was undrinkable on day two. If you open it, drink it fast.

A nice compliment to our chili dogs!

Plum and oak nose. Lots of plum up front followed by dark fruit and meat. Sour plum finish with some black pepper and wood. The finish is persistent. The fruit is one-dimensional with plums followed by plums otherwise I would rate it higher as I like the overall balance.

Heavy on the plum and glycerin. OK drinker.

Cameron Hughes bites the Big Apple (Snooth Offices (162 Madison Avenue)) : Very dark, almost black. Immediately I get a bit of heat along with ripe plum, smoky bacon and pepper notes. Meaty and full bodied in the mouth. Great acidity. Will et much better with some cellaring or plenty of air time. Some dark chocolate notes emerged later on after some breathing.
