Smelled wonderfully delicate and pure red cherry, plus asphalt and some raspberry, with the taste bringing in some black tea in addition. PnP; bottle rest has been very good for this. Opened with plenty of cedar notes which had blown off after 5 minutes in the glass. What followed were vivid soil, forest, and truffle aromas before giving way, slowly, as if time-released, to beautiful cherry, rose, and faint tar notes. Balanced, nice fruity Nebbiolo. Earthy tones full of strawberries. Blindly I am not sure I would have said Nebbiolo, think more in the region of a cold grown Grenache. Day 2 rather consistent. Perfect table wine that worked as well with a meaty lasagna as it did with a pork loin with gravy.

This Langhe Nebbiolo is not shy in showing its depth of fruit at all, it's purple and red with lots of floral accents and solid underlying structure. There's good medium acidity, flashes of steely mineral impressions, and after proper aeration, a full, expansive finish. Picking up some vanilla and cream as well, but the spec sheet says all steel. Either way, this is a lot of wine for the money.

That said, the 2013 Barolo wines, with classic lines and firm tannins will require a fair amount of patience - this, on the other hand, is brimming with bright, crackly red fruits, spice and fresh floral notes. Lacking depth and relatively simple taste: good medium acidity does bring a refreshing quality to the wine, but also brings about simple tones of red fruits and red cherries overall: there almost seems to be a beaujolais quality to the wine that is bothering me a bit.
