Complex, opulent primary nose of berries (blue berries) and a lot of oak. In the mouth it's a different wine much more restrained and rather medium bodied with a certain elegance, really pleasant. A lot of drying tannin to take care of, though. Long finish. My only concern is if the fruit will ever outlive the tannin? High scores if they do, if not...? Try in 5 years time to see?

Color cereza picota bien oscuro, ribete picota, capa bien alta y lenta lágrima tintada.

(Tasted at Berry's Spain 2014): Good balance of dark fruit, rich cherry and earth notes. Tanins are well integrated (esp compared to the Riserva) and big acidity. This is still too young, so lacks depth and complexity at this stage, though enjoyable and well crafted. Wait 5+ years.

Pago de los Capellanes "El Picón" vertical tasting (Monvinic (Barcelona)) : Recently bottled. According to the winery to be released around 2015, the earliest. Dark cherry color (by far, the wine with more color from the vertical), the nose offers a festival of red fruit aromas with layers and layers of intense redberries and black fruit, smoke aromas, underbrush, rosemary and intense notes of roasted coffee. On palate, the tannins are present, a bit aggressive without any trace of the …

Aromas of primarily dark with some red berry fruit, vanilla, and mineral. Medium bodied on the palate with a smooth and polished mouthfeel with fairly good acidity. Decent length. A nice everyday quaffer with good ripe fruit as opposed to the 2010 which I felt was downright jammy. I note that the bottle says that it contains 100% Tempranillo (although I do know the Riserva can contain some Cabernet Sauvignon, this apparently does not).

What a great bargain from Spain. Deep purple color ala Malbec. Brambly hot nose; medium bodied, acidic, berry and mineral flavors. Good clinging finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon really comes through. Muy beuno!

Light to medium-bodied. Very nice nose of cherries that carries through to the palate with a spicy undertone. Flavors are quite elegant and smooth like a big pinot noir. Acidity is nice and juicy with smooth, ripe tannins on the finish. If I could find more I would buy it.
