Very rich, low in acidity, cream, peach, touch of bitter, round, really a product of its vintage.

Wagyu Dinner (La Maison J2) : Double decanted about three hours before service, and a much better showing than a bottle a couple of weeks ago. Floral, melon and waxed fruit aromas. Flavors of almond skin, melon and orchard fruit. Balanced and pretty. The weight sort of worked with the wagyu but the flavors clashed a bit. (J2)

3rd Friday Group Tasting (J&J's) : Double blind. Deeper color than the first, coming off a touch tropical. Banana, white pepper and melon notes. Full-bodied, almost heavy on the palate, with a bitter quality that I find distracting, bordering on unpleasant. Others liked this more than me. 86-87 pts. (J2)

Popped and poured, which wasn't good for this wine. The wine definitely needs air, based on my notes from day 2. Going forward, I'll double decant the wine an hour or two before service. Initially, somewhat heavy with the alcohol showing a lot. The acid was very forward, with some fruit struggling to appear. It did pair very well with the shrimp cocktail. Day 2: What a difference a day makes. The acid is still there but the alcohol has …

Open and sampled over a week. My first Blanche. Best with heavier seafood dishes. Lobster, scallops, bisque etc.. 93

I served this in my wine course. Beautiful nose that is both tropical and nutty. Medium weight with plenty of depth. Ends with a long savory finish that includes some floral and plenty of bitter lift.

Nez fumée,mineral et fruit blanc. On reptrouve les même marqueurs en bouche. Boisée un peu jeune. Pas mal de rondeur et de finesse.

Passion fruit, lychee, floral: peony, tulip. Full bodied, rich. Some smoke. Excellent.

Golden hay color. Nose is creamy honey, lychee, papaya, tropical fruits. The wine has lots of body on the palate, with tropical fruits, hints of vanilla, some citrus. A bit too alcoholic on the palate to make this a rebuy for me. There are better Rhone whites out there, even at this price point. Use of a synthetic cork is also disappointing.

This wine opens up dramatically after aeration in bottle for 1 hour. Nose shows green papaya, green mango, muskmelon, white flowers, tea leaf, and hints of green apple. Oily texture with medium to low acidity. Aftertaste is medium long, with more oak than fruit.

Chave Hermitage white. The only white on the table in a sea of Napa red. And honestly this wine is quite deserving of the only white on the table! Glycerine, yellow peach and pear abounded. Honestly could have benefited from a decant, and disappeared at a faster rate than all of the reds! This wine is extremely young, and really has a huge amount of life left in it. This improved with about 30 minutes of air but I do …

At 15% (!), this is a hedonistic treat that admittedly needs to shed some of its baby fat. Notes of ripe Bartlett pear, Honeydew melon, cut flowers, and lemon curd coalesce, with hints of bitters weaving in. Oily, with a generous dollop of oak emerging late and lingering on the medium-long finish.

Rather heavy and dull without much aromatic excitement to compensate.
