Dark fruit smoke and truffle. Corks can be a problem but still drinking fine.

Recorked in 2018. Wine light brown around the edges. Smell of dark fruit and nice to drink.

A blend of Merlot (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (28%) and Cabernet Franc (27%) from Helderberg. Aged for 16 months in 300-liter barrels (32% new, 38% second fill and 30% third fill). 14,5% alcohol, 2,5 g/l residual sugar, 5,6 g/l acidity and pH 3,55. Developed, very deep and almost fully opaque black-red color with a matured mahogany hue. Quite old and tertiary nose with aromas of oxidative soy sauce and beef jerky, some leafy herbaceous notes, a little bit of wizened blackcurrants, …

Red fruit, spice. Long. Smooth. Great.

Day 2. Spicy red fruit nose. Powerful, dark fruit, blueberries, firm tannins in balance. Very long. Many years left in this.

Hitting its side now with nicely evolved dried dark fruits, earth, perfume, really smooth mouth feel with medium acidity, integrated tannins but still decent length

Elegantly aged. Delicious tertiary (I'm guessing) notes coming through after such bottle age. There is enough fruit going on (of the black variety) to give this a good approach though the grainy tannin and dry finish maintains this as a food wine. Really like the balance and finesse esp as it's 'new world'. This likely has had some old world influence and education to integrate and extract the best out of this wine. Very Bordeaux-like for sure, but the fruit has dried up and the rough tannin and minerality remains.

Very enjoyable.

Earthy, leathery, crisp red fruit, hint of the stables, certainly no fruit bomb.
