Drinking beautifully. No need to hold further. Subtle, well rounded dark fruit presentation. Tannins completely resolved - melts on the finish. Stylistically could be a 15 yr Graves. (Which may be why the 2009 Lascombes followed it so nicely!)

From the get go a gripper loads of red fruit cherry bomb but with les finess than anticipated. Brilliant wine ofc, but maybe at this price point, a bit high above the waterline!

Splash double decant then consumed over couple of hours. Solid but one of the lesser vintages of MtEtain Ive had. Fruit no where to be found.

Its no Scarecrow, but the M. Etain isnt necessarily trying to be. Next to its big brother, its honestly barely worth talking about. But if you can peel yourself away from the notion that it will never be as successful as its super sibling, the M. Etain is a pleasurable sipper that offers up a fun yet just-sophisticated enough array of black-purple-red fruit, gravel, graphite, and licorice notes. Finishes with a medium beam of intensity that keeps everything moving. Juicy …

Note, I'm not normally a Cab drinker, my taste runs toward Pinot Noir so bear that in mind as I describe this one. after a 30 minute decant decided to take a small sample. The nose is fairly forward with cherry and menthol. Alcohol is evident in the nose. Also has a somewhat dusty hint in the background. I definitely think it needs more time in the air to open up. Probably committing infanticide here. Some legs on the glass …

Lovely soft tannins with a 4 hour decant. Lush and rich on the palate. Great dark red fruit earth with a clean mouth filling finish.

This was PnP into a decanter, then drank over the next couple hours. Really interesting to watch this evolve. Started out very rustic and more old school, with a nose of tobacco leaf, espresso, blackberries, dark licorice and forest floor. The pallet showed a ton of leather and was very herbal, with really silky texture, nice levels of concentration/depth and really exceptional balance. There was a bit of blue and red fruit peaking through, but not much. After I'd say …

Quick double decant then dove right in. Drank over about an hour. For the first time with an M. Etain, I was not elated. It's good juice, just not in line with prior vintages for me. I think I've had every vintage going back to 2009, and pretty much always 94-96 for me (even in their infancy). This fell a little short of the mark. Palate was not as velvety; came across more thin. Couldn't really pick up the typical …
