Sadly, this wine has seen better days. At one point, my reference RRV Pinot. The fruit has sweetened, faded and over-matured. The issue is that the oak has come to the front. Too much for me. (84)

Deep ruby / garnet. Blueberry, chamomile, hyacinth and mocha are all present on this voluptuous, complex nose. First rate. Silky texture with good initial flavor penetration. Not complete - it is short and a bit rough in texture. The nose is magnificent, and the star here. (89)

Tons of raspberry, with a touch of earth. Fully mature with a well-balanced finish.

Surprisingly youthful color - dark red color. The nose displayed some secondary characteristics of mushroom, raspberry, and earth. In the mouth, the fruit had faded into ripe raspberry, cocoa, and earth. Structurally, the is excellent acidity with just a touch of tannin. The finish is adequate and fruit-focused. Overall, this is fully mature with faded fruit and ample secondary characteristics. My wife loved it on night one, but it was disappointing on night two. Drink now.

Sad that this does not measure up to anywhere near the lovely 2001 - much deeper color, lovely RRV nose, but the palette is a fighter that grips with wood/tannins. More suited as a food wine than a stand alone. Nice enough but it comes across as muscular. T says its pretty much what it is going to be - hafta agree...

Excellent fruit upfront with a well balanced middle. A slight off finish. Very soft. Overall enjoyable.

Very nice wine, with lots of life left in it, but not exceptional in any particular way, in my view.

Very big upfront black fruit with that modern Pinot nose (big and jammy). Balanced fruit and acidity upfront, but didn't come together on the finish. I had higher expectations given the prices for this wine.

Drinking very well now, with life ahead for several more years. Red fruits don't overpower at all, just blend in nicely. Didn't air or decant, just consumed over 2.5 hours.

This showed surprisingly well in the company of some heavy hitters. Dark plum and blackberry fruit with leather, a hint of earth, and solid acidity and a boatload of tannins. As nicely as this was drinking last night, I believe this wine will need a good 3-5 years to get the tannins to soften up. There's ample fruit left, so I would not be concerned to wait out the tannins.

Nice blend of fruit and spice, with a touch of earth. Not ultraripe fruit, more of a blend of bright berries and dark berries. Started off amazing, lost a little bit by the finish. But still very good.

Dense, tons of red fruit, darker fruit, earthy notes and some wonderful spice structure. I'm glad that I have another 4 bottles. No rush.

Very fruit forward. Not like a typical pinot. Blueberries, cherries, still young, seems like it needed time to mature.

WS New York Wine Experience Grand Tastings; 10/20/2005-10/21/2005 (Marriott Marquis NYC) : Full clear red. Lovely earth briar red fruit nose. Nice black fruit on the palate with correct pinot fruit. These wines may be getting better.
