Chateau Altimar, Pomerol

Earthy black fruit with aligned iron. Definitely better with food!

Thin masked fruit, a hint of iron, lots of earth. Not was I was expecting from a 2010 pomerol. Was supposedly a perfect year, but obviously substandard effort.

Gemaakt van 50% merlot, 45% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Krachtig en geconcentreerd, maar tegelijk fris, en elegant. hele mooie wijn voor deze prijs. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Classic Bordeaux - lots of earthy goodness

At home. Opened last night. Gorgeous dark ruby. Good viscosity. Fleshy, feminine, sandalwood fruit in the nose. Nice touch of spice. Lovely in the mouth. Fine, well- integrated tannins give structure but don't mask the fruit, which seems to have quite a good dollop of Merlot fruit. Very nice. 4-12-15-8: 89/100.

At home. Lovely dark ruby, nearly opaque. Viscous. Fine nose, restrained yet still showing fine mulberry fruit and a judicious kiss of oak. Firm structure in the mouth, plenty of tannin with earth and dark fruit flavors. Fairly long. As with all of the bottles of this wine I have had, more forthcoming after being open and left in the bottle overnight, but this one more reticent than other bottles I have had recently. Excellent dark cranberry color. Thick red tears. Fragrant feminine nose with excellent minerality. Crushed berries. Rich and the full in the mouth with a fine depth of flavor. Firm structure. Long finish just a bit on the hard side but quite nice. An excellent price to value ratio. Took a couple of hours to open but once it did it was very fine. 5 – 14 – 16 – 9: 94/100.

A blend of 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, this deep crimson wine offers significant structure along with its beautiful fruit. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh and with medium fine-grained tannins, it is packed with blackberries, bitter cherries, allspice, mocha and espresso on both the nose and palate. Nice pomerol for under 20 bucks. Would recommend The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Forest floor, and Medium Toast. The body is Full.

Opened up and was very smooth after about 90 minutes in decanter. Paired well with a ribeye
