Jane Eyre, Fleurie

Yet again a super wine. Highly aromatic, seductive nose with berries, spice, and musk. Some slightly burned toast notes sitting alongside star anise, quite distinctive. Juicy and intense palate with good length. For me this really hits the sweet spot in terms of structure - there’s a lightness and elegance but it’s underpinned by serious intensity and presence. Held up well across three days, perhaps losing a little fruit but gaining depth.

Very intense and seductive with a melange of red fruit, savoury spice, blood orange, musk - this is very grown up and seems a very good example of a ‘Pinotte’ style. I cannot pretend to be highly versed in Burgundy but if given this blind there’s no doubt I would be calling Pinot, and probably suggesting Sylvain Pataille as the producer (a bit natural and raw, but excellent quality).
