Suggested and sold to me by Adalbert Lutz of Wein-Gasthof Höhenrain in Grainau back in 2007. 14%, barrique-aged. Rich straw yellow colour with a golden sheen; the nose is discreet but deep and with subtle layers of candied fruit, honey, herbs, smoke, minerals and a hint of oak; on the palate rich but dry, with vibrant juicy acidity and ripe fresh fruit; very good length, finishes just a bit on the oaky side and with a hint of salted butter. …
