Although technically passed its drinking window this is a beautiful wine. Smoothly integrated tannins, complex aromas and flavours and wonderful aftertaste.

Intriguing array of aromas including fresh baked baguette. Complexity is evident in the palate and with long finish.

42% Syrah, 27% Touriga Nacional, 27% Mourvèdre, 10% Trincadeira and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. SMells very distinctive - liquorice and tar Tannins still full, oaky notes merging into menthol and cedar Good and certainly unusual though found the tannins a little bitter

Quite meaty and powerful initially, rounds out on day 2. Tad sweet, tannins still very much to the fore, will be interesting to re-visit in 3-5yrs time

The wine is a deep reddish purple with no residue in the bottle. Decanted for about 2 hours prior to consumption. Wine steadily improved with further aeration. Complex nose: some sweet notes, subtle herbs, dark berries and licorice. Tastes younger and more complex that the 2009 consumed earlier in the week. Dark berries and subtle spice. Long dry finish.

By the glass at Salut MCR. Dense crimson purple almost saturated with ruby to clear rim. Meaty leather tobacco and blueberry on the nose. Medium(+) weight with velvety tannins. Fresh blueberry raspberry soy beef jerky and a touch of herbs on the palate. Big flavours a bit hot but finishes fairly fresh. A bit OTT for me.

This is a really interesting wine - five grape varieties some new to the Cape. Drinking beautifully now but more life in it.
