Domaine J. Meuret Chardonnay Clos Pierre White Salmon Vineyard

I was a bit nervous when I opened the bottle and the cork was “water logged “ but the wine was fine. Served with shrimp scampi. Crisp, with citrus overtones, good acid and enough sweetness to complement the garlic. Terrific

Nice drinking chardonnay - crowd pleasure and nothing memorable

A bottle that as soon as the cork was pulled, lovely fragrances were leaping from the bottle to my nose a bottle's length away. A greenish-tinged gold, this had lots of orchard fruit - white peach, pear/apple - kumquat, with almond paste and a great briny/rocky mineral layer. Seems to blend an almond/amaro bitter edge to pomme fruit and sea-washed rocks on the palate. A pleasant spice oak texture seems to be mostly absorbed into the wine, but still remnants …

Limpid sunlight in a glass, Domaine J. Meuret is from Washington's highly regarded Maison Bleue, the Meuret label are single vineyard wines, meant to show off terroir. In this case this outstanding Chardonnay is from Clos Pierre vineyard in White Salmon, a site that lies within the cooler more west end of the AVA. Interesting "light" chardonnay...not over oaked or mouth-filling. Crisp acid finish.

Yummy bubblegum/tropical fruit style oak on both the nose and the palate. Creamy new world chard for those that liked that 2013 Orin swift mannequin (the Parker 96pt vinyage). Like the mannequin, this wine pretty much rides on the qualities of its oak influence. Perfect for drinking now but not much acidity to the wine so I question whether it will age very long. Could improve in the short term as the oak integrates more and hopefully becomes less prominent …

Crisp lemon apple fruit with nice minerality on palate. Very clean and appealing without excessive oak.

This had a very appealing richness and creaminess, both when tasted at the winery and then while enjoying with baked halibut one night, and a tuna melt another.
