Monthly Tasting Group HWS: Chateauneuf du Pape vs Gigondas (By me) : Beautiful red berries, garrigue, animals and barnyard. on the palate very tasty and juicy fruits, garrigue, beautiful acidity and still firm tannin with a pleasant bite. There is some development, but the wine has still a lot of power and is in a beautiful drinking stage at the same time.

Fragrant nose, clearly "low-sulfites". Fruity, mature, full-bodied taste, fairly rustic finish. OK.

By the glass. Aromas of black berries on the nose with some vegetable notes. Like many wines of this denomination, better when turn 7 years old and soften leaving behind the sharp acidity and tannic load. Not bad at all. Por copas. Aromas a bayas negras en nariz con notas vegetales. Como muchos vinos de la denominación, mejor cuando cumplen 7 años de edad y se suavizan dejando atrás la puntiaguda acidez y la carga tánica. No mal del todo.

The bouquet is a bit dusty, but also juicy with ripe dark and red berries, a light dose of oak, garrigue and good acidity. Very full bodied and lovely wine. Fully mature and no real hurry.

Weekly tasting group RWP #250: Rhône; Gigondas Part 2 (@ BS) : In the bouquet minerals, ripe fruits, black olives and some barnyard. On the palate ripe red berries, earth, fennel and thyme. Some chocolate. Good and fresh acidity and slightly sticky tannin. 89 - 90

The nose is all plum, loads of plum; orchard fresh plum. Very intense. A hint of smoke and raspberry. Thin and light with predominantly black pepper on the palate. The finish is medium in length and astringent.

Light bodied with a definite pepper presence.

Nothing special. For the first 30 minutes, it was rather thin in viscosity. There was noticeable green pepper notes on the nose on the PnP along with some barnyard. Simple on the palate with black fruits. At $19, this was grossly overpriced, even if it was 'marked down' (from $24). There is a fair amount of alcohol on the back end. Nice slightly drying tannins.

The only smell I get is a strong black pepper aroma. It has a nice fruit flavor but nothing overwhelming. Just ok.
