Hewitson, Gun Metal Riesling, Barossa Valley

Bottle #1 of 2. Light gold/yellow. Complex nose of diesel, nuts, toasted bread, grapefruit, smoke, perfume, vanilla. A little more simple flavour profile, mostly apple juice and floral. M+ body, m acidity, XD, medium alcohol (12.5%). Long finish with more grapefruit. My only quibble with this wine is that the acidity could be a tad higher. Still, makes a good sipper. Drink or hold.

Great balance of acid and mineral austerity with the touch of (still dry) RS. v22 showing some slight development and a nice creamy texture. Lovely

A superb Riesling, bone dry and soo fresh! Super QFP

This may be my new favourite Riesling. Medium-bodied, with some citrus, but the Riesling character that I love dominates: call it “minerality”, call it “petrol”, or “metallic” as Hewitson has done here. Not quite as much rubber note as other Rieslings but it’s the same accent. With a bone dry finish, this is the perfect wine to have with Thai or Sichuan food. Clean and crisp. An amazing palate cleanser. I’m going to need another bottle.

{screwcap} Great slately Eden riesling. Some lime, talc, brine. Medium weight, medium/high acid, but fresh and natural feeling. Bone-dry finish, medium length. Keep an age if you like.

Sulphidic and steely.

Pas mauvais mais pas emball� par ce riesling. Le nez est surprenant sur le chimique (p�trole et ses d�riv�s). La bouche est plus normale mais manque un peu d'acidit�.

Hewitson "Old vines and rare understanding" tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street) : A really great mix of lemon oil, candle wax and a hint of lime leaf. The palette starts with soft stone fruit and pear and fills out with lime and sherbet. There is a slightly bitter finish that works really well - like tonic water - that slides around with remarkable minerality and density.

Touch of lime and citrus. Nice mineraliry. Excellent summer wine
