Burgundy Wine Club Dinner #14, 2025 : Served as part of a night of 2007 Barthod 1ers. Pulled the corks at 6:00 and left them standing open until we got into them at about 8:00. The nose here is brooding, and that's cliche in wine, but it actually applies here. Savory elements, almost like a shrimp paste or a hard wood charcoal element underlines the fruit, which becomes brighter and brighter in the glass and over the next two hours. …

Dégustation bourguignonne (Boucherville) : Un beau nez au fruit rouge, assez discret mais charmeur. Bouche ample et d’une belle profondeur, que nous avons aussi située dans le thème Chambolle. La structure et l'équilibre sont excellents, quoique le vin n'est pas encore pleinement expressif, encore un peu trop jeune. Excellent, il a déclassé les trois Amoureuses décevantes qui l'ont précédé. 92+ pts

Drinking quite well, of the terroir and spicy bright red fruit well balanced nice tannic base and medium finish. Plenty of furlongs left to this thoroughbred.

Terrific! Seamless texture. Excellent balance and focus. That darker fruit like Bonnes Mares. Great finish. I love this.

Coleur rubis orangé peu intense. Nez de petit fruits rouges acidulés et de cerises. Bouche assez ample, sur le fruit mais avec une finale inexistante et acidulé, amertume. Vin déséquilibré, probablement un défaut de la bouteille.

Delicious. Extremely mineral, good. On entration of rich sweet strawberry and cherry. Dusty, tannins resolving. Should be terrific in 5 more years.

Plus viril que le Roumier, mais aussi plus charmeur et accessible dans sa forme actuelle. Nez complexe sur les petits fruits rouges. Gourmand, fin, minéral et rustique. Très bel équilibre. Le genre de vin qui nous fait aimer le pinot, même s’il n’avait rien de particulièrement spécial.

Chocolate and cherries on the nose. Fleshy palate. Simple but tasty.

Flat-out delicious. Usually hesitant to use the word "refreshing" with a red wine, but this one is. Very red fruited and elegant, yet complex and superbly balanced. Drank on the young side, admittedly, but glad we did. Will crack the next one circa 2014.

Better second night than the first, when I was tempted to write it off as unexpressive and overly acidic. Second night, fruit opened up a bit and showed great class. Still the oak is evident on the palate. I'd wait at least another 2 or 3 years before approaching again.

This 2002 is developing very nicely. Full color. On the palate, firmer than some Chambolles and less exuberantly fruity. Good texture. There's a sense of earthy fruitiness which hopefully will intensify over the next few years. This could become very interesting but it's fine to drink now, too.
