Still hanging tough, fruit to tannin is surprisingly balanced. Earth with bright red fruits with tar and evergreen, vanilla and dried cranberry on the palate. Remarkably enjoyable.

Still drinkable, but took a while to open after decanting. A lot of tar.

A really great wine. Very unique. Still lots of fruit but also very earthy. Decanting really opens it up. In fact, it was even more expressive day two. Such a nice alternative to cookie-cutter California merlots.

The best Merlot I have ever sampled. Second place is not even close. I loathe Merlot and only sampled this varietal as it came in my club shipment that I was too busy to alter to exclude the Merlot. Thank goodness for being swamped at work! I have gone through two cases of this wine, it is quite simply one of the best made wines that I have tasted. A blind tasting would have made me bet my life that …

Opened in the morning, thought I was going to dinner w Rob in HK but turned out it was Rob in HCM. I was real late. Anyway stuck w this at home. Nice color. Same French nose, rich spicy sharp powerfull fruit, earthy, tannins are less killer now, but this has such perfect structure, can see it going for years n years. Jesus what a weird wine. I am beginning to think it is more Italian than French. Day III …

Popped cork & poured, no decanting - Dark, almost black; dusty, earthy, tea, olives & bell peppers on the nose. Sharp berry fruit & green apple flavors, soft powdery tannin, lots of acidity, a little bit sour, and a lengthy finish. Very food friendly.

this wine is evolving to become a more complex, enjoyable wine as it ages... now that I have no more bottles.

Evolving in an interesting manner. No notes taken, but I enjoyed this bottle more than I expected to.

Decanted in the morning. Consumed over 6 hours w dinner. Dark & dusty center core, purple. Nose remaining the same. Dark fruit & green olive thing going on. Big wave of fruit, reduced fruit, blue/black then the finish is raspberries. Lingers. Really has gained weight in the last few hours, suggesting needs a 12 hour open air decant. Just a fun drop w a very unique winery flavor profile.

Just keeps delivering. Amazing. NIce rich dark looking for a Merlot. That Caparone BN Vineyard nose. Funky, earthy, barney, spicy acids, leather, complex in a weird off way. Great weight, balance, explosive fruit, unfettered, spicy acid, perrer, leather, mushrooms, some grippy tannins. This is night three and it is just so well balanced at this stage. This wine can go another 20 years.

bell peppers! Nice fruit, long, good acid, very mild tannin; smooth, supple, tea & leather

Dense red in it's youth, there is an intersting bloody steak cooked on an unseasoned cast Iron pan characteristic hiding behind the tannic fruit. This is a true rustic wine with lots of terrior characteristics. Tannins and minerals are diminant. Grapes, native yeasts, a little oak, time... am I patient enough to wait and see where it will go? That's the fun part.

Not earthshaking, but paired with grilled flatiron steak, it shines.

Time is treating this wine well. Some gentle tannins remain underneath a butterscotch/wet slate nose and rich, high percentage chocolate palate. My past notes seem to imply it's maturing nicely.

Solid if unexciting merlot. Good menthol fruitiness, and rich tannins to elevate food. A food wine rather than a wine of contemplation.

Mystic bottles. Great performance tonight. P&P after transatlantic flight. Huge Pommeral nose, not Barny, earthy, rich, sexy, can smell this all night. Wish I had big glasses, but alas, only 8oz. plastic Dixie cups in a a Taxi across the Island to Spring Deer Rest in TST. Tannins are huuuuuge, can stay another 10 years, or needs air & food. Deep rich earthy tones, big finish, rich fruit, huge yummy factor, killer QPR. Makes me want to order case. Again, …

Slightly corked. But intrinsic style shows. Rustic, chunky wine. Funky Bretty aromas, high acid, drying tannin and lots of fruit. This will have staying power. Just a question of style.

This bottle of wine is going through an interesting smoking stage. Elements of sweet fresh (?) cigar smoke and menthol permeate the nose and lasting finish. If I had a good veal or pork dish to pair, this wine would sing.

Back in form. Pommerel?? Great value and better than many very expensive French wines. Would love to blind this in a tasting.
