Beautiful mature elegant wine. Time to drink.

Way to much heat to be enjoyable. Once you get past the heat it has decent balance and appears to be in its prime with the fruit starting to fade. Ill try my remaining bottles but my expectations are low.

We’ll, this bottle was much better than the disappointing one I had earlier this year Dark red purple color with minor sediment. Dark cherry, raspberry, plum, port, leather, earthy, silky. Big 15% but balanced. Not over extracted or hot. I think this is the wine at its best. Drink now to 2025.

Dark rich ripe 100% Grenache. Some leather and earthy notes. Nose and some bricking reflect some age. Probably past peak but can drink now to 2023.

Same as the last one - a hot mess. I'm leaving this for a day to see if it improves...

Not sure if it was the high expectations or bottle variation, but not as great as I was expecting it to be. And by no mean do I say it's a bad wine, but 93,8 points gave high expectations. Hope rest of my Espectacles live to my dreams.

Something wrong - not corked, but simply pure shyte. Hot mess. I acknowledge that I really loved a bottle of this last year,

I served this in my wine course. Savory herbal nose (especially high pitched herbs such as bay leaves, basil) in front of a background of low pitched earth and tar. Beautiful silky mouthfeel with a touch of chocolate, but not at all intrusively. Low acidity, but surprisingly (given what an acid freak I tend to be), I don't miss it, and feel it finishes with perfect balance on the very supple and well integrated tannins. Was not expecting to like …

Decanted for 2 hours. Great aromas on first glass. After a couple more hours it really opened up. I have 1 more bottle I think I'll wait another 15 years to open.

Drank with Barry and Sallie. Off putting effervescence. Popped open a different bottle because I wouldn't drink it. By the time we came home from dinner it was done with all the ugliness and turning into a pretty decent wine. I should know better than to pop and pour. Shame on me!

I loved this wine. What a treat. Lots of black fruit and tar. Black pepper and spices. It just seemed to dance in your mouth like it was alive. Definitely has a lot more life to go.

Quite an extraordinary experience. The wine is, of course, much, much to young, and initially comes across as a blockbuster heavy set with alcohol, tar and very black fruit & spice. But, behold, give it some time, and you find underneath and almost Rayas-like lightness and elegance - no surprise, then, to learn, that it's made from 100 % Grenache from 120 years old vines. Would have loved to own a case of this and try the second bottle in, …

This wine really grew and tasted delightfully after about 45 minutes in open bottle. Complex and long lasting flavor--raspberry in particular.

Saturday at Knightsbridge (Northbrook, IL) : Wine tasting. Aromas dominated by black pepper with some plum, black cherry and cherry cola. Same dense black fruit on palate with black pepper and licorice, but lots of heat and a sense of over-concentration on finish. Not your traditionally styled wine.

(Tasted in a flight with 2007 Espectacle, 2007 L'Oustal Blanc Giocoso and 2008 Espectacle) An incredible nose revealing a massive attack of cedar wood, led pencil, Juniper, Allspice, Bay leaves, Carnations and dried flowers the 2008 Espectacle is completely different from its 2007 sibling. The palate is cool and a bit 'soapy', yet massive and rathe opulent. The acidity is a bit too low. Overall a nice wine, but I think the difference to the 2007 raises a few questions …
