Abanico, Toro, Los Colmillos

Aah! Whereas once I was blind, now I can see! In the last year, this has come around. Still pre-plateau, but its potential is finally obvious to me. It's rich, intense, long, tannic and with a superiourly balanced wiggle-around in our mouths. I love Toro wines! This is a beautiful specimen, but I expected more... Ett kralligt vin, som sig bör. Single vineyard som planterades för 150 år sedan!!! Lite väl sent skördad där sommarens hetta skiner genom starkt med swulligt söt frukt i plafonden. Hyfsat bra syror och en rejäl tanninstruktur till trots känns det inte som om vi direkt storlängtar till den andra och sista flaskans plopp om ca 10 år. Donkerrode kleur met paarse tinten, een neus van zwart fruit, kruiden, leer en zoete menthol. In de mond evenwichtig maar de tannines zijn aanwezig, vol en complex. Vol fruit, frisheid en een goede zuurgraad. Een afdronk die de smaak van rijpe pruimen geeft. Veelbelovende full body wijn die nu op dronk is maar zeker voor lange tijd kan worden bewaard.

Decanted for a good 30 mins. Needed some help for sure as its a bit too tight. Never tasted this wine young so we are not sure on whether the fruit has relaxed. Felt very much the wine we expected albeit not as exuberant which is a good thing in our view. Dark fruited, ripe good rich fruit, high on the drink-ability front.
