Château Rives-Blanques Chenin Blanc Limoux Dédicace

Hah, kept this bottle until it was 10 years old just for kicks, and what a nice surprise! Delicious, mellow yellow fruits on the nose with smooth vanilla. The palate has tart acidity, with tasty fruit and a hint of earthiness. No signs of dying here, it has aged well!

Popped and poured. Appearance: really a beautiful shining golden yellow, very nice to look at (5/5). Nose: ahh, this one is not corked, what a relief! Nice notes of melon and a whiff of oak in the background (11/15). Palate: nice round tastes with apple coming through, the oak is there in the background giving the wine somewhat of an oily texture, but there is enough acidity to keep the wine from appearing flabby (14/20). Disappointment, this one was slightly corked, enough to make what has been a delicious wine seem flabby and unappealing.

A pale golden yellow, almost shining in the light. On the nose rather floral with notes of apple. On the palate very clean and elegant, good balance. An excellent wine!

Nice floral notes on the nose, went really well with grilled lobster tails.
