Wow, wow, wow, this is so interesting right now. It still has some California sunshine fruit, but it has developed a savory tone that adds a significant dose of complexity. I agree with rieslingfan that this is a different Pinot than is the norm for CA. It’s a Syrah-lovers Pinot. Dark, jammy, tart, and a dry finish. I had one about three years ago and declined to review it because it was nowhere near resolved. Even at this point in a temp controlled cellar it does not seem fully integrated. If you have any in your cellar I would suggest holding until 2024.

This remains a unique Pinot for California. It’s similar to my first bottle, with the fruit really feeling anchored by the tannins. There is plenty of sunshine to the fruit, but it is always held in check. Still young, the stuffing and balance is there to allow development for complexity. This is one of the more interesting young California Pinot Noirs I have ever had.

Unique and fantastic. Medium ruby colored, medium bodied. Beautiful balance; the acid and tannins tickle the tongue rather than searing it. Nice tart fruit leaning to the red side. Definite buy again, especially considering the price. A new favorite.

Mid weight, a mix of darker and lighter red fruits. want to give the next bottle a few years to see how it continues to develop.

As advertised, this wine is all mineral. The nose is wet earth. A bit of buzz on the tongue - but not in a bottle fermentation kind of way. Barely ripe strawberry, stemmy green pepper, and plenty of rocks on the way down.

This was very tight when opened, showing little fruit and all minerals. Day 2, this is much more accessible with raspberries, cranberries, earth and fine tannin.

From the first sip this was different from pretty much every other California Pinot Noir I had ever tasted. Yes it had the sunny fruit, though it veered more towards tart cherry and cranberry than anything riper. Where it was truly different was in the structure. There was a good balance of acidity, but then a chalky/limestone tannic element really kicked in. The wine was truly structured. The fruit is certainly there for this wine to develop over at least …
