Passage Rock Chardonnay Reserve

Big nose - spice and yeast notes. Sweet fruit palette - ripe peach and ripe juicy grapefruit flavours blended to give a creamy mouthfeel followed by good acidity to ensure nice long finish - some caramel notes towards finish. My first chardonnay from Passage Rock and I like it.

Two visits to Waiheke Island (Easter 2019 and New Year's 2020) (Auckland, NZ) : Bottle tasting, small pour. New oak 30%. Some richness on bouquet: peaches, pears and mandarin juice. Some matchstick sulphur and oak complexity. Leaner, cleaner and more mineral than expected on palate, from the nose. Yellow apples, pears, grapefruits and some flinty minerality. A touch of vanillin oak. Lower, but acceptable acidity. An enjoyable but not hugely complex Chardonnay.
