It was interesting to witness this bottle evolve after being opened. At first, it displayed strong aromas of tobacco and smoke and an off-note that smelled like brettanomyces. But then as those aromas dissipated it it began to display more pleasant notes of ripe dark fruit, vanilla, and tobacco. The acidity was still somewhat high, so I suspect it could have benefited from more age. Nonetheless it was a good example of a more old world-style red.

60/40 Petit Verdot/Cab Sauv. Medium nose shows black plum, black cherry, espresso, violets. Palate shows dark fruit, blackberry, black plum, a little surprising in flavor in a good way, slightly jammy, then medium plus tannins. Solid for the price.

Blend is 60% Petit Verdot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
