Last bottle of this wine. It is falling apart, color in the glass is a darker red then I remember from the last bottle. No bricking noted. Nose is dark cherries with hints of earth. The palate is where it goes wrong, totally disjointed some hints of fruit, but at no point did this wine rise to the level of the vineyard it is supposed to come from.

Nice enough, but not much QPR. Tannins have softened. Relatively dark for a Pinot, but not concentrated or muscular. Pretty fruit, but also a hint of green.

One of the better bottles of wine that I have had from this producer. Opened and let sit for an hour. Rudy red in the glass. Noise of light fruit, palate is well balanced, solid effort. Cork was showing some potential leakage. Will have to open other bottle soon.

Christmas Wimps 2024 - Los Reyes Magos (La Trompette) : Pleasant and seemingly fully - surprisingly - mature. Refreshing, light-bodied Pinot. Very drinkable, though without Grand Cru weight, and had a shortish finish too.

Consistent with a bottle six years ago. Dense ruby. Quite plush. Just about GC density. Dark red fruited, nicely balanced, no obvious evolution. Middling complexity. Enjoyable now but time in hand. ****

The entire Ilan 2011 line-up had been a disappointment to me until I tried this. This is a classy Pinot where everything is well integrated and balanced. Food friendly, but with enough fruit to be enjoyable stand-alone. Bright and well defined flavors, medium long finish

(from memory) Cloudy medium ruby, bouquet is reduced and "bretty"with red currant, cherry and earth, palate also starts out with lots of reduction buy gives way to bright, mineral tinged red fruit, earth, touches of spice, medium acidity and smooth tannins, finishes with red fruit, minerality, earth and more I know, I know, we're all sick of talking about it, plus there are too many other important things going on in the world, but I just can't resist. This Gevery …

My forst meeting with this controversial (ahem) house. Very creamy and dense, we were guessing something from the Rayas man. The fruit is sweet and forward, plenty of strawberry here, seems to be in a great spot. Very interesting to see this, thank you Jannie for bringing it. #FogheadsInTheGarden

Gotta drink 'em, right? And honestly, this is pretty good. Lovely and intense nose of red berries and spice. The palate is a touch hollow, but the overall package is surprisingly enjoyable. Better than expected and better than many '11s.

Maison Ilan @ Medlar : Dense. Slightly dense ruby. Very fragrant. Rose petals. Fuller and denser on the palate. Darker and denser. A little less persistent than the Mazoyeres. ****

This was decent with some nice dried florals and hints of spice, but also had a persistent reduction note that never resolved completely.

Shows very well now, great aromatics and restrained depth that teases about the future. One to linger over.

Overripe and not my style. Prunes and a bit tannic. A hint of bay leaf makes it somewhat interesting, but a poor QPR by any measure.

Quite the breadth of comments here, but having had one of these a year ago and then following this one for three days open, I think patience could show a decent reward. It doesn’t have the overall beauty I believe Grand Cru should possess, but it is balancing out better with the oak and fruit and really starting to reveal more layers to the onion. Pretty solid, and I enjoyed it most on the final day with the long exposure. …

I'm still recovering from a cold so my analysis is prefaced by that disclosure. I did enjoy this quite a bit after about 4 hours of slow-ox, where the bouquet seemed to mesh together and the palate rounded into a softer blanket with nice dried cherry, strawberry, and tart candy flavors. Holds up strong mid-palate and has a long, genuine finish. Pretty sure it will gain from further rest. My somewhat compromised score would be 89-90 with a couple points …

About the best thing I can say for this bottle is that it was better than the first one; but that's a pretty low bar. Some acetic acid (though not as much as the first bottle), then some brett shows up. It actually seemed okay for a brief time, in sort of a clumsy and simple-fruit way. But in the end, this is not a well made wine, and it's nowhere near grand cru quality. In fact, at best it's …

Bretty and muddy nose. Not much on the palate with only traces of red fruit and acidity with a glossy perhaps oily mouthfeel. Did not improve on the glass.

Similar to my previous note. Clean, juicy red fruit, no green or bitter notes, medium weight, lacking complexity and intensity. This would be a good effort for a village wine that cost $35, but not for a grand cru that costs $100. Poor QPR.

Decanted about four hours. Shows slightly acetic on opening, but that goes away with decanting. Dark cherry, almost plummy fruit, with good weight, supported by rich, velvety tannins and juicy acid. Just a hint of 11 green that gives a slight bitterness but this has enough fruit that it doesn't mar the wine. Decent but a little muddled and lacking complexity, not a lot of length. Not bad for the vintage, even if not living up to its Grand Cru …

For those who want to know about these things with MI wines, the cork was fine, with the branding confirming vintage and vineyard, a small disc of red on the bottom with no signs of any seepage. This was a pop and pour, consumed over the course of two hours or so. A fair bit of acetic acid is immediately evident, which is a bit worrisome for the future. Pretty good delicate red fruit quality, but the palate is thin …

Light/sweet mouthfeel with wood influence. Moderate spice on the mid palate, sweet cherry throughout. Good length. Guzzette says figs, dried apricots, and wood on the nose. Easy drinking.

This wine has some well-integrated red and dark fruits on the palate, complemented by some earth and smoke; There are some stalky/herbal notes as well that remind you this is the 2011 vintage; A nice wine, although not overly complex for a GC and not worth the price for me
