Decanted for 3 hours, tasted over three days Tasted in riedel vinum port glass The nose: Great caramel/butterscotch note, plum, raisin, prune. Chocolate, vanilla, tobacco at the end. The palate: Same as the nose, althought there is some brighter fruit, than normal. Seems to have a higer acidity. Im 92 points now, and maybe it should rest until the age of 20-25 years old. Doesnt seem so ready at this point. But fantastic art. Drink from 2029 and beyond

2 Book club wine dinners - Marlon James and poetry reading evening; 12/6/2024-12/22/2024 (at home) : Wonderful. has complexity, spice box and figs, red and black fruit but also a lightness and freshness. Perfect match for a milder blue cheese, we drank it with some Saint Agur.

Black cherry and dark fruits but still with plenty of freshness and depth. Almonds, walnuts and almonds are starting to show mixed with a fine acidity. Great wine and lovely balance between fruit and age! From a 375ml bottle.

Notes of fig, raisin, and black cherry lead the way on the nose and palate, with brooding tannins flexing throughout. A bit of heat too. Hints of crushed walnuts emerge late and linger on the medium-long finish.

Very pale tawny, almost brown in glass Nose of Blackberry, Raisin, Burnt sugar. Med+ acidity, Med+ alcohol, Med+ flavor intensity, Long finish. Very good wine. 91-92 points. Only knock is that it was rather one dimensional. Over the course of of multiple sessions with Coravin this wine really didn’t develop or gain any complexity with air and instead followed a very linear path. I would drink this now although perhaps not a rush.

dinner at Boragó (Vitacura, Santiago de Chile) : less tawny and more ruby colour in the glass with good viscosity. nose of oranges, caramel, dried fruit and pecans. smooth and silky in the mouth, the sweet flavours unfold gracefully and elegantly, lifted by a palpable acidity and buoyed by spicy touches in excellent balance. the youthful feel masks a richness and complexity that reveals itself subtly and slowly. great length. 20.5% AbV; bottled in 2016.

Served in Riedel Champagne. Terrific balance and concentration. Citrus fruit sweetness and acidity melts perfectly with the darker, fuller notes of chocolate, coffee and caramel.

Orange dates...and spice box. Beautiful port. Was surprised by the lighter color. Was better after the second and third tasting after air had hit it.

From a 375ml bottle. Vibrant nose of figs and raisins, some chocolate. Full bodied, sweet, smooth and tasty, showing loads of figs and raisins, a bit chocolate and slightly oxidative notes with a long lingering finish. A darn delicious tawny port.

A bit of alcohole but it's gets less dominant as the days goes by. My previous note is pretty accurate. A feast of orange and dates. A lot left. Intention is to drink it over, at leas, a month. See how it goes.

My first colheita and I'm surprised by the color. So light! With my french chocolate cake this is delicious. A lot left. Will be back. Edit: Day 2 and it's fantastic. A feast of orange, dates, raisins. Yummy stuff said both me and me son. Edit day 3: Just a little glass and it is shining now. Fantastic. Edit day 7: Maybe best today. Maybe a touch of alcohole but nothing that disturbs. 92-93 and I'm glad I have one …

Very good indeed: just the perfect level of sweetness to pair it with a chocolate pecan macaron. I've gone off PX as I've got older, but this had all the caramel depth and none of the sickly sweet burn on the finish. Fresh, balanced, spicy - just gorgeous.

2019 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2019-9/28/2019 (Portugal) : Bottled in 2019. Light amber in color. Orange, caramel, and a touch of vanilla on the nose. Smooth, orange, and maple notes with a touch of orange spice on the palate. Long finish, with just a touch of bitterness.

This has got to be the best Colheita port I've encountered in my somewhat limited experience. Compared to the 2000 (bigger, alc showing more) and the 2005 (younger, less integrated), this 1997 is showing incredible poise and balance. It's got wonderful persistence and penetration on the palate with complexity and verve or youthful tension that doesn't hint at an iota of any strain or suffering from age. I can't find a fault in this wine. It deserves to be drunk …

my first Colheita after my first cream sherry earlier this week. The two are surprisingly comparable, and it's so interesting to think about how the white and red grapes ultimately almost converge. The wonder of wine-making and time. Compared to the sherry this is more medicinal, brooding and integrated although less outward. Aged wood. Extremely long. 92-95
