Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Chardonnay Mariana's Vineyard

Hour decant. Lemon nose with some beeswax. Palate is filled with sun drenched citrus and white fruit, expressing both Broussard and Hardy Wallace’s vision with gentle love. Adds minerals, more lemon and acidity without bite on the finish. Subtler, less Extradimensional and more traditional than other wines from the winery, but just as special.

Drank over 4 days. I preferred it on day 2-4. Day 1 was a little one note (which is never my experience with Yeah! wines). By Day 2 I got what I was craving and then enjoyed it at that spot until Day 4. It's interesting. This is a hard chard to characterize - almost more like a really good sancerre with a chardonnay body. It doesn't have any of the matchstick/reduction notes I have gotten with Hardy's Mariana chard. …

A year and a half since my last try with this and there isn't much development to report on. Followed over two days and different serving temps. I actually preferred it at room temp vs chilled.

Coming back a day later to say that this is consistent with so many of the EWCY wines that really blossom with plenty of air - day 2 and it is singing with so much more depth and harmony than upon opening. Bumping from 91 to 93.

This was nice. A bit reductive on opening. With some air opened up… green apple, ginger, very crisp. Didn’t evolve terribly much over the course of the evening, but went well with a mild but Asian-ish dinner of halibut roasted in kelp, and stir-fried greens with garlic, ginger and sesame.

Like some other EWCY! whites, this wine really needed a day to come together and make the leap from “very interesting, a little all over the place” to “delightful, fresh, integrated.” This has a slight carbonation at first pop and even after a day of evacuation a little sprightliness lingers. Some of the taste ingredients — green apple, ginger, a touch of honeycomb, lime — are at odds with each other at first and take a day to harmonize. But …

Decanted. Now 3h after decant. Gold color. Shy aromas of mild ginger, ripe apples,.pears, medicinal herbs. Palate w ginger inflected apples and barely ripe pears, nice minerals, herbs. Nice acids on a full body. Nice finish w tart apples, herbs and a bit of ginger. I believe had some skin contact and certainly smells and tastes that way with the ginger/medicinal herbs that's the usual hint of skin contact for me. Overall, the wine is not showing that much. Medium gold color, just a bit dull, no sediment. Apple, pineapple, guava notes on a steely foundation. Wasn't very exciting for the first 2 hours, but it grew on me with time open. Feels like it could use more time in the cellar before it will show all it can do. 4+10+15+8= 87

Give this baby lots of air, got better and better as the night went on. Great mouthfeel, floral, not fully chard in character but delightful.

90 Chardonnay, 10 Chenin Decanted for 30 minutes. Lemon, apples, bananas, pears, wet stone (winemaker says "desert rocks") on the nose. The palate is less primary - and a lot more interesting. Anise, fennel seed, pollen, the aformentioned rocks/stone thing, some tart fruits and ending with a white peach note. Medium bodied with medium + acid (must be from the Chenin). You could age 2+ years and see what happens flavor-wise; but it's perfectly good now.

Very compacted right now. Decant a bit. Rocks and minerals nose. Clean. Springy. Tart, acid-driven apples and tart citrus. The little dose of Chenin gives the a rounded, honey-density that wraps the mid-palate. Terrific weight. Would love to see in a couple years if I can keep my hands off.

Great acidity. Minerally nose with a bit of citrus. Seems tightly wound on opening, an hour of air loosens it up. On the palate there is a lovely weight and rounded honeyed mouthfeel, probably from the Chenin in the blend, but the acidity still keeps things fresh and lively. Would buy again.
