Columbia Winery Chardonnay Small Lot Series

Might have been a very good Chardonnay if we were drinking it 5 years ago. Almost past it's drinkable time.

Usually you can rely on Columbia to produce fine and enjoyable wines. Not this one. It's plain and overly sweet for a Chardonnay. Hardly any depth and not even fruity. Comes across as almost fortified and has a chemical taste. Somewhat painful to drink. Returned to the store.

Light lemon yellow color; apple pie filling, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon custard nose; odd, apple pie filling, lemon custard palate with lowish acidity; medium finish

Herbal, grassy notes on the nose. Odd palate, chemical/plastic type taste. Does not taste like Chardonnay. Down the sink. Would not buy again.

It was nice and lightly buttery. Nice hints of oak at the finish. Smooth and does not have that stainless steel bite to it.

A Few Blind Chardonnays (Washington, DC) : Richer nose, orange marmalade, creamy pears and honey, some floral, perfume. Plump on the palate, chunky pineapple and pears, drizzled with honey and topped with diced nuts. Bold, ripe, creamy, but some moderate acid keeps it in check. The nutty, chamomile, honey and baked bread elements show some moderate complexity. Includes some Semillon and Chenin Blanc. Good value at $14.

Very translucent in glass. Clean with soft mineral notes

Some oak and butter on nose Nicely balanced clean warm feel in mouth. Second mouthful has more minerals coming through Very long finish. Could develop to be a 90
