Clos LaChance Zinfandel Hummingbird Series Buff-Bellied

Not typical of my idea of a zin, but still a relatively tasty rendition. It is not in your face with the black and red fruits, but they are there, if not slightly subdued. Very dark, heavily extracted color. medium body. Minimal oak, and moderate alcohol. A taste of road tar on the finish

I do not know why this wine was rated a 79. It is a very worthy wine with nice fruit and a bold beginning. You do have to drink it once opened because it does fade quickly.

Very much like this one. Not heavy or in your face, as some of the Lodi zinfandels can get. Notes of currant & red berrys, with a little vanilla thrown in. The winemaker refers to black pepper notes, but I wasn't getting that. Alcohol at 13.5%

I love a good Zinfandel. This just didn't stand out as one. Not bad, just not great, kinda like what's happened to a lot of Cab and Merlot.

Dark color-aromas of darkfruit, mocha, and dates. moderate acidity, mild spice, darkfruit, and dates with a short finish.

Ruby red color. Big, cherry, vanilla, scent. Rich, silky, pepper, blackberry and earth flavor.

A well-balanced, medium bodied zin with delicious raspberries and a hint of chocolate. The winemaker showed restraint. Only 13.5% alcohol.
