shared this bottle with ellen and pat. i am reluctant to reveal my secret knowledge of this wine although i have written about it for previous vintages. this is one of the few california chardonnay's that benefit from a few years of bottle age. compared with the bottle we had last year, this one shows considerably more complexity. color is golden, almost amber. wonderful notes of honeysuckle, butter, butterscotch, and wood. some might ask where the crunchiness of the chardonnay …

this bottle was consumed at a slightly warmer temperature than the last wine. seems more integrated. finish is litlle more lingering. flavor charcteristics are as described previously but still lack intensity. hopefully, 2005 will be better.

Great golden color. Nice fruit, not too buttery. An easy wine to pull out for a glass or two. Doesn't hold up well when reopened on day later.

Great Carneros region Chardonnay. Nice mineral content and just the right touch of oak. Fruit is nicely displayed upfront. A big hit with all who tasted.

Mid yellow. Pineapple nose. New world but quite restrained. Some minerality. High alcohol. Funny almost bitter aftertaste. Seems slightly out of balance. OK, but...
